A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD'S
OPEN SPACE PLAN

WHEREAS, the protection of existing environmental resources and open space in and
around the Village of Plainfield to create visual relief from the press of development is
desirable; and
WHEREAS, the benefits of open space are numerous and include cultural,
environmental, recreational, economic, transportation, and health benefits; and
WHEREAS, the goal of providing quality, accessible public open space for the
community is identified as an objective in the Village of Plainfield Comprehensive Plan;
and
WHEREAS, the objectives of this goal include creating a map of planned open space
and amulti-purpose trail system, working with developers and adjoining Park Districts to
plan open space, and actively pursue grants, donations, and dedicated fees to provide for
open space acquisition; and
WHEREAS, the Open Space Flan will serve as a guide for the future conservation of
open space areas in and around the Village and as a vision of the Village's future open
space system, a policy document, and a resource to realize the system.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Village of Plainfield does hereby
formally adopt the Open Space Plan to serve as a formal Village policy related to the
principle open space guide for all future developments.
