Monday December 24th , 1923.
The. Board. of Public Works of the •City of Richmond , Indiana , met
in regular session at the of" fi ce ofvsai d. Board Monday December 24th
1923, at 9 o' clock A. M. .All the Members of said Board. Messrs ,
Land , McFail and Henley being present . The following, proceedings
were had , to-wit : -

The Board meets to hear all persons interested or whose property
- is affected by the improvement of the alley between South 10th &
11th Street, by constructing a Sanitary Sewer in said alley from
South "I" to "J" Street , under Improvement Resolution No. 697-1923,
No- one appearing and no remonstrance having been filed. the Board
find that the- property liable to be assessed for the cost of said •
improvement is benefited to the cost thereof as reported by the
City Civil Engineer and thereupon take final action thereon the
resolution being. confirmed without modification. •
The Board_ meets to hear remonstrances, if any, of persons primarily
assessed on account of the improvement of Northwest 7th Street by
constructing cement roadway, curb & gutter on both sides and side-
walks where not already and in good condition from Peacock Road to
Main Street, and West Main Street , from 8th Street to the west cor-
poration line , by constructing cement roadw ay, .curb & gutter on
both sides thereof between the points named, as provided for under
Improvement Resolution No. 640-1923. No. one aloe ar ing and no remon-
- strances having been filed, the. Board approved a final assessment
-roll confirming the original assessment roll as heretofore approved.
And now direct the same be transmitted forthwith to the Depar.ltment
of Finance.
The Board. meets to hear remonstrances, if any, of .persons primarily-
assessed on account of the improvement of Southwest 7th Street , by
- constructing cement • roadway, curb & gutter and sidewalks on both
sides thereof except where sidewalk is already laid and in good xi±x
condition, from West Main Street to the"- National Road, as provided
by Improvement Resolution No. 641-1923. No one appearing and no re-
monstrance having been filed. The Board approved a final assessment
roll confirming in all things the primary assessment roll as here—
tofore approved and assessing back lying lots and within 150 feet
of the improvement as benefitted for roadway only. and now direct
the same be transmitted forthwith to the 1Jerart ment of. Finance .
The Board approved a primary assessment roll , for the improvement
of the alley between Southwest 2nd & 3rd Street, by cement roadway.
from Southwest "C" to "D" Street , under Improvement Resolution No. ' •
- 682-1923. .
The Board approved a primary assessment roll for the improvement
of Randolph Street , by constructing cement curb & gutter on both
sides from Northwest 1st to 5th Street , under Improvement Resolu-
tion No. 680 -1923.

I onday December 24th , 1923.
The Board received bids for the improvement of the first all ey
north of North "G" Street, by grading the all ey from North 14th
Street west to the alley riinning _north & south between North -13th
• and 14th Street, as provided for under Improvement resolution No.
696-1923, as follows : -
• " John S. Duke , bid : •
Grading 0 1.85 --- --. per cubic yard , this being ab ove the
estimate of the City Civil Engineer and Mr. Duke being the only
bidder, he agreeing to• take the improvement at the Engineers
estimate, the contract was awarded to said John S. Duke , at the
- price of One & 66. ; 100 Dollars 1.66* per cubic yard.

The City Civil Engineer, was directed to purchase buckets for
• North "E":Street sewer out of Bond issue therefore .
The matter of removal of the overhead- filling Station at Richmond
Auto Sales Co. , was referred to the City Attorney, with instruct-
ions to have the same removed.
The City Attorney & ,E• +ineer, were instructed to close the options
taken on property to' .urchased by the City for park purposes.
The Clerk was directed to advertise for bids to purchase a 10 ton
' Gasoline Road Roller for the City.
A bill in the amount of 400 .00 from the City to P.R. E. L. & P. P.
for plans & blue printing , was referred to the City Attorney,
as to the le gal i ty of the claim.
The Clerk was directed to noti fy the property owners abutting the
1st alley north of North "G" Stre et, from 14th Stre et west to
move their sheds ,houses etc. , back and to protect, the• same before
grading of said all ey..

The Clerk was directed to request the Standard Oil Co., to grade
the walk on east side of North 19th Stre et , and place cinders
on same for temporary walk during the winter.
The Clerk was directed to noti fy the heads of the various depart-
ments to, meet with the Board Thursday 9 o' clock A. L . to take up
the question of centralized purchasing for the City.
Claims in amount of 017 ,466.05 were al lowed and ordered paid.
The Board then adjourned,
