. Thursday September 20th, 1923.
The Board of ubli c Vlorlm of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in
regular session at the office of said Board. , Thurscay September 20th
1923,A1I the members of said. Board , Messrs, •Land, Henley & r/loPail,
being present . The following 'proceedings were had , to-wit : - -
The Board approved a primary assessment roll in the matter of Bene-
fits assessed and damages awarded in• matter of the vacation of a
portion of "Johnson Street " between Tracts-173 & 174- , Official Lap,
under Declaratory Resolution No. 169-1923, and fix Monday October
8th, 1923, as a date of hearing of remonstrances , on account of
said assessment & award of damages.
The City Civil Engineer reported the 'completion of contract under
Improvement jesolution No. 688-1923, for the improvement of North
and South 1Cth Street, by paving said street with Asphalt , from
North "A" to South "A" Street , by The Andrews Asphalt Paving Co. ,
cost of improvement 439777.77. It was reported to the Board that it
appears from the looks of. the street , that depressions may appear
therein: Mr. Henley, stated that as the Andrews Asphalt Paving Uo.
Contract speci fically states that they agree to complete said im-
provement by Oct. 1st , 1923, and to maintain and keep the same in
good repair to the satisfaction of the City .of Richmond, for a period •
of three years from the date of the allowance of 'the final estimate -
therefor, without cost to the City of Richmond , or property 'holders
assessed for the cost of the same .And whereas said Company have filed
with their contract & bond a Maintenance Bond . to fulfill the above
• stipulation for the period of three years . He moved that the improve -
ment be accepted and. assessment roll be prepared, motion prevailed
and assessment roll ordered.
A petition was presented for the opening of the alley between North
13th & 14 th Was
from. North "G" Street north to the alley running
w east , same as referred to the City Engi neer for plans, resolution..
etc . , for opening of said alley .
The Clerk was directed to notify Wm. S . McClelland , thru the Police
Department , • to remove the two dead trees on west side of Southwest
7th Street, adjacent to , and abutting his property , and to'have same
remove d_b efo re curb & gutter is laid. . •
The Board ordered copy of letters wri tten by them,and received by
them from the Richmond Home Telephone Co. , on the death of Mr. Wm. .
Bailey, expressing their sincere regret of the passing` of Mr. Bailey
and appreciation of his servi ces to the City as manager of- the Rich-
mond Home Telephone Co. , .
The Board fix the net damages to be awarded the T.H. I. : E. T.Co. tL $18 ,000.
Claims in amount of ti 2580'.74 were al lowed & ordered paid.
