City of Richmond , Indiana,
Thursday August 23rd , 1923.
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met
_ in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday August
23rd , 1923, at 9 o'clock A.M. Messrs , Land and McFall being present
Absdnt , Mr. Henley. Two members of said Board being present . The
following proceedings were had , to-wit :
Mr. Chas.' M. Lyons , Street Commissioner, reported to the Board
that one of the City employees of the City Street Department , while
in the discharge of his duties gathering trash,etc . , in the 'alley
between South 7th & 8th Street running from South "C" to "E" Street
on the 21st day of August , 1923, was bitten in the hand by a dog
belonging to Benjamin Heithause residing at 429 South 7th Street.
This matter was referred to the City Attorney, to see if the owner
was not compelled to re-imburse the. City or employee for time ,etc. ,
lost on account of said bi to.
The Board granted permission to Benjamin Young, to place a gasoline
tank under the sidewalk between the curb F.c walk at 1518 North "E"
Street .
Permission was granted. J. J.Hayward to widen the driveway by cutting
curb etc . , ,in rear of 98 West Main Street on east side of Northwest
1st Street.
Permission was granted the Christian Science Church to cut the curb
and walk in front of their property on North "A" Street for purpose
of running drain from their property.
The matt er of bond presented by Chas. E. Thomas principal and the
Southern Surety Co. as sureties, in matter of gasoline curb pump
on Sheridan Street , was referred back to said Chas. E. Thomas and
Surety Co. , to insert in same that the City may order the removal
of said curb pump at any time .
Claims to the amount of 017 ,750. 36 were allowed ; and payrolls to
August EBB were approved.
