The Board of Public Works of the 'City of ' ichmond , Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday 'August 9th ,1923, at 9 o' clock A. M. All the members of said Board Messrs, Land , Mc- Fail and Henley being present. The following proceedings were had , to-wit : - . t The iBoard meets to hear remonstrances if any, of persons primari ly assessed on account of the improvement of NW. 6th Street , Northwest 7th Street & Sedgwick Street' by Cement sidewalks , curb & gutters on both sides of said streets & Bituminous macadam roadways as provided under Improvement Resolution No.617-1921 . No one .appearing or remon- strating, the Board approved the final assessment roll as heretofore approved. And now direct the same be transmitted forthwith to the • Department of Finance . The Board meets to hear remonstrances if any, of persons primarily assessed on account of the improvement of NW.8th Street by cement sidewalks,C.& G. both sides and cement roadway from Peacock Road to Richmond Avenue , under Improvement Iesolution No. 669-1923. No one remonstrating, the Board approved a final assessment roll as hereto- fore approved. And nor direct the same be transmitted forthwith to the Department of Finance. The ten day period having expired under Improvement Resolution No. 694-1923, for .the resurfacing of the street in South "A" Street by either Bituminous macadam,, Sheet Asphalt, Rock Asphalt or Re-inforced Concrete from South 2nd to 5th Street, and no petition having been filed for any material other than designated by the Board, the Board awarded the contract for resurfacing of said street to the Hayes Con- struction Co. , using Bituminous macadam at the price named in their bid submitted July 26 th , 1923. The Board received bids for the construction of a Sanitary sewer in 1st alley north of North "F" Street ' from 13th Street west , under Im- provement Res-olutio.n No. 689-1923, as follows, to-wit: " John S. Duke Sewer complete $2.30 per linear foot The bid of John S. Duke, being the only one received and being with- in the estimate of the City Engineer, the contract was so awarded. The Board received bids for the construction of a Sanitary Sewer in Southwest 5th Street, from the alley -between SW. "A" & Main St. to Southwest "A" Street under Improvement Resolution No.695-1923,as follows, to-wit :- John S. Duke , bid ; Sewer Complete 1;31.90 per linear foot . The bid. of John S . Duke being the only one received and being with- in the estimate of the City Engineer, the contract was so awarded. The Board received bids for certain work to be done at Public. Comfort Station, as follows, " Miller-Kemper Company, 0156.50 ) " Richmond Lumber Co. , 0183.95) See Bids The Miller-Kemper Company being the lowest the contract was awarded to The Miller-Kemper Company. Thursday August 9th , 1923. 467 The Board issued Contractors certificate in amount of 85% of con- tract price -$6,180 .90 , to -Iseabarger & Jessup, Contractors under Improvement Resolution No. 669-1923, for the improvement of North- west 8th Street, by cement sidewalks , curb, gutters and street from Peacoek.Road to Richmond Avenue . The Board received notice from Brandon Griffis , Attorney for George Craig, an employee of the City Street Department , claiming •compensation from May 17th , 1923, and hospital and medical ktit costs from May 25th to date and compensation from date until the termination of his disability at the rate of 013.20 a week,claim- ing he was injured which caused hernia and necessitated an oper- -ation. The matter was referred to City Attorney and Street Commis- sioner for investigation and report. zf The Clerk was instructed to notify the Wayne County Fair Committee not to use sawdust in the Glen as heretofore used, as the same destroys the grass, (in holding the Fair this year) as the use of sawdust will not be allowed. Bills in amount of p10,885. 61 were allowed & ordered paid. The Board then adjourned, °Pres t. of Board Attest : Clerk of Board.
