The Board of Public Works of the -City of Richmond , Indiana, met
in regular session at the office of said. Board ,Thursday May 17th,
1923, at 9 o'clock A. M. The following members of said Board be-
ing present , Messrs , McFall and Henley. Absent , Mr. Land . Two
members of said Board being present . The following proceedings
. were had , to-wit : -
The Board met to hear all persons interested in or'whose property
is affected by the improvement _of North "G" Street, by construct-
ing cement sidewalks •5' wide on both sides thereof,from North 12th
to 15th Street , except where already laid with cement in -good con-
. dition as provided under Improvement Resolution No. 690-1923. After
hearing all persons interested who appeared no remonstrances having
been filed. •The Board decides that the benefits to property liable
to be assessed for said improvement are equal to the cost of tame
as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final
action. the resolution being confirmed without modification.
The Board: met to hear all persons. -interested. in or whose property
is affected under- Improvement Resolution No. - 691-1923, providing
for the construction of a cement roadway in the alley -between •South
20th & 21st Street from the 1st aley south of Main Street to the
lat alley north of South "A" Street except where already laid and
• in good. condition. After hearing all persons interested who appeared
the Board decides that the benefits to the property liable to be
assessed for said improvement are equal to the cost as reported by
the City Engineer and thereupon takes final action. The resolution
being confirmed without modification.
- The Board met to hear all persons interested in or whose property
is affected by Improvement Resolution No. 692-1923, providing for
construction of cement roadway in the alley between North 13th &
14th Street from North "C" to "D" Street . No one remonstrating the
Board decides that the benefits to property liableto be assessed
for said improvement are equal to the cost of areported by the City
Civil Engineer and the.xeupo n .take final action. the resolution be-
ing confirmed without iiio'd3fication
The Board met to hear remonstrances .if any-, of persons'- pri arily
assessed on account of the vacation of the 2nd alley north of South
"E" Street, running from South 6th Street to the aley east, under
Declaratory Resolution No: 166.-1923. No one remonstrating the Board
approved a fi nal assessment roll of bene fi. is & damages as heretofore
approved , and now declare said alley vacated. and directed that the
assessment roll of benefits & dam gee be forthwith transmitted to
the Department of. Finance .
The Board granted Mary Shinn permission to cut the curb for private
driveway at No. 212 North 16th Street.
In matter of petition for an arc light at Williams- & Ridge Streets,
Mr. D. C. Hess, reported that after due investigation he would re-
commend that an arc light be placed at this point , concurred in.

In matter of claim for automobile from Chenoweth Auto Co.
for Buick purchased by Light Plant , City Attorney, reported that
a special alnropri ation should be secured for the payment of claim.
City Attorney was directed to prepare ordinance for appropriating
out of Light Plant Funds the sum of 11268 .00 for payment of same.
The Board directed the Richmond City Water Works, to install a
Fire Hydrant in South 16th Street between Main and South "A" Street
place to be designated by Fire Chief E. E. Miller.-
The City Civil Engineer was authorized to order 20 Sanitary catch-
- basins , from The Sanitary Catch-Basin Co. ,
- A claim in the amount of p22.75, was presented by Wm.F.Eversman
Chief of Police , for parts taken or stolen from the Automobile
_ of Maslow Holetcheck , while the same was being held in storage by
the City, The City Attorney advi sed that the City is not respons-
dhle for any thing stolen from automobile taken by Police Depart-
ment ih the enforcement of law. The Board ordered the claim returned
to the Sup' t. , of Police .
The Board decided that the City not start any more improvements
this year, as-it is a question whether they will be able -to fin-
ish all improvements al ready commenced.
The Board then adjourned ,
