HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-07-1923 430 Cffi ce of Board of Public Works City of Richmond , Indiana , Monday May 7th, 1923. • The Board of Public Works of the City of- Richmond , Indiana , met in regular session at the office of said Board , Monday May 7th, 1923, at 9 o' clock A.M. All the members of said Board Messrs ,Land , McFall and Henley being present . The following proceedings were had, to-wit : The Board met to hear all persons interested in, or whose property is affected by the improvement of the 1st alley west of North 10th Street , by cement roadway from North "I" Street north to let ally under Improvement Resolution No. '687-1923. A remonstrance having been filed signed. by John & Anna Jordan, the Board takes same - under advisement . • The Board met to hear all persons' interested in or vhcs a property is affected by the improvement of North & South 10th Street; by resurfacing the street with one of the following materials ; Bitumi- nous Macadam , Sheet Asphalt, Bituminous- Concrete, or Re-inforced concrete , from North "A" to South "A" Street , under Improvement Resolution No.688-1923. After hearing all persons interested who - appeared and no remonst ranee having been filed. The Board decide that the benefits to the property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the cost of same as estimated by the City Civil Engineer and thereupon take final action. The resolution. be- ing confirmed without modification. The Board received bids under Improvement Aesolution No. 678-1923 for the construction of cement roadway in the alley betwee-n North 12th & 13th Street, from North "A" Street south to 1st alley north of Main Street, as follows, to -wit : - " Daniel G. Burkhardt, bid.: . . Cement roadway complete $0.24 per square foot " Sisk & Bone, bid; Cement roadway comple to 0.27 'pe r squa re foot " Z. B. Pyle , Co. , bid ; Cement roadway complete 5 0.274 per sq- foot . -The bed. of L. G. Burkhardt being' the l c v e s't and within the esti - mate of the Engineer, the contract was so awarded. The Board received bids under Improvement Resolution No. 680 -1923, for the construction of cement curb & gutters on both sides of Randolph Street, from Northwest 1st to 5th Street, as follows, viz; " Daniel G. Burkhardt, bid;- Cement curb & gutter(Strai-ght ) ;?1.23 per linear foot „ „ ►, „ (Circle ) 1.47 " „ „ Intersections ' - - 0. 25 " square foot Re-setting inlet 20.00 each " Z. B. The Board received bids under Improvement Resolution No. 683-1923, to construct cement roadway in the alley between Southn7th & 8th St. from South "A" Street north to present cement roadway, as follows: " Daniel G. Pyle Co. , bid ; Cement roadway complete 5 0. 27- per square foot . The bid of D. G. Burkhardt being the lowest and within the esti- mate of the Engineer, ethe contract was on motion so awarded. The Board received bids under Improvement Resolution No. 685-19239 To improve North "B" Street; by constructing a cement sidewalk 5 ' wide, cement curb & gutter on both sides of street, and paving the roadway with one of the following kinds of city pavements, to-wit : Concrete , Brick, Bituminous Macadam or Rock Asphalt , from North 7th to 8th Street, as follows, to-wit : " Hayes Construction Co. , bid : - Cement sidewalk 5' wide y 0.25 per square foot Cement curb & gutter 1.35 " linear foot Circle curb & gutter 1.50 " " " Cement all ey crosswalk 5' wide 0.25 " square foot Re-setting inlets 5.00 Each Roadway complete using Bituminous. macadam 1.45- per square yard Extra macadam furnished & rolled 3.00 per ton. Re-setting inlets complete 5.00 Each The Board on inotio n now enters its preliminary order designating said roadway be paved with Bituminous macadam under said resolution plans and specifications. 432 Monday May 7th , 1923. The Board accepted and adopted tentative list and plan for the various: streets to be oiled out of the City ' s general fund, sub- mitted by the City Civil Engineer. Mr. A. M. Gardner, notified the Board that he could not serve on committee appointed to appraise property to be condemned in open- ing Southwest 5th Street , thru Street Car Co. property for the reason that he is -an interested property, owner benefitted by said opening. The Board_ appointed Mr. J. H. Lichtenfels to serve in place of Mr. Gardner. The Board authorized E. E. Miller Fire Chief, to have a Western Union Clock installed in No. 2 Hose house. Upon the recommendation of Mr. D. C. Hess, Sup' t. M.E.L.& P.P. the -Boardvibn motion of Mr. Henley,' award contract to Chenoweth Auto Company, for One Buick 3 passenger coupe at price named in Wid received therefore on Apri 1 30th , 1923, @ $1, 268 .00. The Board authorized the purchase of coal for the different hose houses and City Bldg. ,from the M.E.L.& P.P. and directed E. E. Miller Fire Chief to confer with D.C.He_ss Sup't. , of said plant for said coal . Claims to the amount of 43983 .66were allowed & ordered said. The Board approved the payrolls to May 5th , 1923. The Board instructed the Building Inspector not to issue Building Permit, to the T.H. I.& E.Traction Co., for re-construction of their barns at West 5th & Flat i onal Road , unti 1 after hearing on opening of Sw.5th Street, May 28 , 1923.
