Monday April 00 th , 1923.
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana , met in
regular session at the office of said Board Monday April 30th,192.3
at 9 o' clock A.M. All the members of said Board Messrs , Land, Mc-
Fail and Henley being present . The following proceedings were had ,
to-wit : -

The Board met to hear remonstrances and take final action on De-
claratory Resolution No. 165-1923, to condemn ground for right of
way for sewer, as follows, to -wit : Beginning at a point on the west
side of Northwest 5th Street about 4 feet south of the north line x
of Lot No. 3, Pitts 8c Hodgin, tiddition to the City of Richmond , In-
diana, running thence west over and across said lot 3, about 4 feet
south of the north line , to an alley running north & south in rear
of said lot , all as shown by plat of such territory now on file in
office of Department of Public Works Of said City. No remonstrance
being filed with or presented to the board against said proposed
condemnation of ground for said right of way for sewer, the Board
takes final action on said resolution, confirming, without modifi-
cation, all forrnerr action taken on the same . And now orders that a
list or roll be prepared of all owners of property , and of valuable
interests therein, sought to be taken or to be injuriously affected,
which list or roll shall also describe the property beneficially
affected.
The Board met to hear remonstrances, and take fi nal action on Declar-
atory Resolution No. 166-1923, to vacate the 2nd alley running east
& west , north of South "E" Street , between Lots 8 & 9 A. Hamptons,
Addi tion. Nor remonatrance being filed with or presented to the Boar(
against said proposed. vacation. The Board takes final action on said
resolution, confirming, wi thout modifi cation, all former action take]
on the same . And the Board now orders that a list or roll be prepar-
ed of all holders or owners of property, and of valuable interests
therein, sought to be taken or to be injuriously affected, which list
or roll shall also describe the property beneficially affected.
The Board approved the contract & bond of Daniel G. Burkhardt, con-
tractor under Improvement Resolution No. 668-1923.
The Board approved the contracts & bonds of E. A. Mariani, contract-
or under Improvement Resolutions No' s. 670 - 674 - 676 & 677-1923.
The Board approved the contracts & bonds of Z . B. Pyle Co. contract-
or under Improvement Resolutions No' s. 671 & 672-1923.
The Clerk reported that Mr. Frank Bussen had agreed to dedicate to
the City of Richmond , Indiana, a strip of ground. 82 feet in width
on Southwest 9th Street from Southwest "A" to Main Street , provided,
the City would re-imburse said. F. Bussen for money paid by him for
improvement ..of;-.Southwest "A" Street as to said 8-u feet , The Clerk
was directed to notify Mr. Bussen , the City would accept the said
dedication at the price named by him which would be 8i feet @ per linear linear foot or approxi mate ly $19.95 .
The Board granted permission to W. A. Hazlitt, to use the east end
of Stevens Street for gardening purposes upon the payment to the
City the usual price of 39 per 100 square feet or 40.. 20 for strip
to be us ed.

The Board granted permission to W. 0. Steddom to cut the curb at
114 South 9th Street for private driveway.
_ The Board granted permission to J. W. Shallenberg to cut the curb
at 210 South "D" Street for private driveway.

The Board approved a Plat • of 38 town lots heretofore approved by
the City Plan Commmssion February 26th , 1923. representing Lots
No. 1 to 38 inclusive and to be known. as Earlham Addition, and laid
- out by Louis T. & Viola H. Jones, situated south of National Road
and west of East Raven Avenue .
.In matter of opening of Southwest 5th Street , from National Road
south ; Representatives fron the T.H. I.& E. Traction Co.- Messrs ,
Watson, Gordon and Robbins appeared before the Board in a joint
conferance with the City Engineer,, Board and citi zens of the west
side who petitioned for said opening , after considerable discussion
on the matter the Board on motion decide and instruct the Engineer
to prepare plans for said opening according to plahs presented by •
him together wi th resolution and the Board would adopt the. same .
Sup' t. , Hess of M.E.L.& P.P. was authorized to make a visit to the
General Electric Co. plant at Schnectady ,N.Y. at the expense of the
City , in an effort to hav e them live up to the it prop osi do n to the
City on bids for ci rcu it breakers , etc .
The Board fix the amount at 250.00 as a maintenance charge to the
Richmond Light, Heat & Power Co, for permission to dig into South
22nd Street from Main to near South "B" Street , they to do their
own back-filling.
The Board received bids on Automobile for use of the M.E.L.& P.PI,
as follows, to-wit : -

All above bids were referred to .Sup't. Hess, for investigation
and report.
