• The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana , _net
in regular session at the office of said Board. Monday April 23rd
1923, .at 9 o' clock A. M. All the members of said Beard . Messrs , •
Land , McFail and Henley being present. The following • proceedings
were had. , to -wit : •

The Board met to hear all persons interested in, or whose property
is affected -by the improvement of North "B" Street, by c onstr outing
cement sidewalk 5° wide , curb & gutter on both aides thereof, and
_ paving the roadway with one of the foil owing kinds of city peve-
menis , to -wit , Concrete , Brick, Biturninoua Macadam or Rock Asphalt
from North 7th to 8th Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 685-•
1923. After hearing all persons interested. who .appeared, no remon-
strance having been filed with the Board. The Board decides that
the benefits to • property liable to be assessed fen said improve •
-
ments are equal to the cost of same as reported by the _ City Civil
Engineer and thereupon take final action. The resolution being con=
firmed wdthout modification.
The Board meets to hear all persons interested in, Or vh.ose property
is affected by the construction of cement sidewalk on the north '
side of .North "F" Street, from North 10th to 15th Street , 'under
Improvement Resolution No. 686-1923. A remonstrance signed by a
lar ge ma j o ri ty of- the resident property owners ; the Board on motion
rescinded the resolution.
The Board unanimously• adopted Improvement Resolution No. 690-1923,
to improve North "G" Street , by constructing cement sidewalks 5'
wide on both sides thereof, from North 12th to 15th Street , except
where cement is already laid •and in good condition.
The Board_ unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. . 691--1923
to improve the alley between South 20th & 21st Street , by. construct- .
ing a cement roadway from 1st alley north of South "A" Street to
1st alley south of Main Street except that portion already laid &
• rin good condition.

The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. -692-1923
to improve the. alley, between' North 13th & 14th Street. . bynconstruct-
ing a cement roadway the full width thereof, from North "C" to
North "D" Street.
. The Board grant Herbert VanEt.ten, permission to lay gasoline tank
under the sidewalk in frontof building at corner South 6th &"A"Sts.
The Board accepted the resignation of Elmer Longstreth, as a mem-
ber of City Fire Department .
The Board received;•.,bids for labor and material for steel ceiling
in basement of Li `it Plant office at Comfort Station as follows: -

The bids were referred tp Building Inspector for investigation
and if found correct to award contract to lowest bidder.

The Board_ received letter from iichmond City „pater ?orks , together
with their check in the sum of w9188 , for overcharge made in fire
hydrant rental bill of Oct . 192E-- Jan . 1, 1923 and April lst, 1923.

Mr. Hess, Sup' t. , of 1.1. E. L. & P. P. was directed and authorized to
purchase the pole line of the iichmond Home Telephone Co. , extending
from East Haven Ave , west approximately l- miles at price of 468 .00.
Mr. N. H. Johnson Manap•er of The ti chmond Light , Heat e, Power Co. ,
appeared before the Board , together vi th Mr. B. Perk a certified
'accountant , Mr. Johnson stated that they had a possible chance of
furnishing Natural Gas to the city of Richmond , for another year
from Nov . 1st, 1923 , but are compelled to pay the Logan Gas Co. ,
an increase of 5S' per 1000 cubic feet , and he had the books of the
company audited to shCr , that if . they furnished gas at the i-ncreased
cost to them , it would necessarily- mean the rates for the city would
have to be increased 10c' per, 1;000 .cubic feet , and it was imperati ve
far his .company to know at once whether the ci t yr would assent to said
increase , if not- they would prepare to be able to furnish artificial

contract ready for them to 'sign, and they would adjourn to 6 Q30 F.M.

The Board_ met in adjourned session 6 .:'0 o' clock P. M. pursuant to ad-

Light , Heat & Power Co. , may have an increase in the rate for furn-
ishing -natural. gas to the city of Richmond. and the inhabitants there-
of, and that said rate be increased from 85c gross per 1 ,000 cu bie•frt`
to 95V. gross per 1,000 cubic feet of .s , •i.th a c'us count of 10v!rer
