Thursday April 19th , 1923.
The Board of public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana , met
in regular session at the offi ce of said Board *Thursday April
• 19th , 1923, at 9 o' clock A. M. All the membe rs of said Board ,
Messrs , Land , McFall and Henley being present , the following pro-
ceedings were had , to-wit : - •
• The Board meet to .hear all persons interested or whose property .
is affected by the improvement of Randolph Street , by Construct-
ing cement curb & gutters on both sides of said street , f-rem North-
west 1st to 5th Street under Improvement Resolution No. 680 .1923. -
after hearing all persons interested who.. appeared , and in answering
. property owne rs the Board agreed to rep,i r the street after said
curb & gutter are laid . The Board_ now decides that benefits to
property liable to be assessed for said improvement are equal to
the cost of same as reported by the City Civil 'Engineer, there-
upon take final action, the resolution being confirmed without
modification.
The Board meet to hear all persons interested ir, or hose prop-
perty is. affected by the improvement of the 1st alley north of
North "G" Street , -by constructing a cement roadway from North 14th
Street , west , to the alley running north & south between 13th &
14th Street , under Improvement Resolution No. 681 -1923. After
hearing all persons interested who appeared and carefully consid-
ering a remonstrances against said improvement , which upon in-
vestigation showed that a majori.ty of the resident property own-
ers had signed the same. The Board take improvement under advise--•
ment , until necessary filling and grading is done by Mr. Clarence •
Jessup.
The Board meet to hear all persons interested in, or whose prop-

Street under Improvement Resolution No. 682-1923. No one appear4
ing or remonstarti tag . The Board decides that the benefi is to
property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal
• to the cost of same as reported by the City Civil Engineer and
thereupon take final action. The resolution being confirmed with-
• out modification..
'The Board meet to hear all persons intere sted in, or whose prop-
erty is affected by the improvement of the alley between South 7th
& 8th Street, by constructi ng a cement roadways from South "A" St.
north to the present cement alley under Improvement resolution
No. 683-1923. No one remonstrating , the board. decides that the
bene fi is to property liable to the . assessed for said improvement
are equal to Vac.-cio.sst of same as reported by the Uity Civi.1 En-
gineer, and thereupon takes final action, the resolution being
confirmed without mod ifi cation.
The Board meet to hear all persons interested in or whose prop-
erty is affected by the improvement of She rman Street and Butler
Street, by grading & graveling the roadways with graveled sidewalk
& cement curo & gutter on both sides of streets, from Sheridan to
Butler -St. & Butler St. from 'Shen an to Bouth terMinous of Butler
St. under Improvement ilesolutio n ITo. 684 -1923. A iaj on ty remon-
.st ranee havi ng been filed against irnprovemnnt , resolution. was
rescinded.

Mr. J. Klinger chief petitioner. for the improve men of Sherman &
Butler Streets , inspeaking of the condi tion of the street stated
the Board should ordered the improvements under resolution No.
684.-1923, presented to the Common Council and he felt very much
aggrieved. Mad stat ed the Board or city did not want, to gi ve him
relief , as the condi ti on of Sherman Street caus ed the water to run
down to the front of his property. The Board upon the recommend-
atio n of the Engi ne er ordered a resolution prepared for the im-
provement of Butler Street from Sherman Street to south terminous
of Butler Street , which would furnish the required relief. Mr. .
Klinger stated that he would remonstrate ap-aii st said improvement
as it would not gi ve him the requisite relief. The Board further
ordered that if this did' not furnish the redo isi to relief . The En-
gineer should have inlet constructed at the intersection of the
alley west of Butler Stre et on .Sherman Street and cinder walk laid
on Sherman Street
Permission was granted. Sam Jaffe to cut the curb on south side of
Main Street between 2nd & 3rd Street at Tot 133 Smith ' s Add .

The Eire Chief was directed to install fi re alarm box on North 16th
Street near '°J" Street.
The Board. order the old barn torn down on ci ty prop erty south . of
Market lot on South 5th • Street .
The Board approved a contract- with the Betha d Auto Co. for ti res
for M.E.L.& P. P.
The Clerk was directed to adverti se for bids for painting Pest
'House , also Crematory.
The Clerk reported complaints received from Council, the matter of
trimming; trees and construction of swimming pool in S .7th St. Park
were referred $o Park. 3up' t . , with instruction to report. .
The City Attorney presented report on claim of John B. Schnelle
City emmlolTee injured while working for city last August. and_ recom-
mended iha Mr. Schnelle be awarded. provided for in the Workmen' s
Compensation Act of Indi ana for an injury . And the City Attorney be
authorized to prepare the necessaryha.pers for Mr. Schnelle to sign
for presentation to the Board. for approval . On motion the report
was accepted and the City Attorney instructed to prepare the neces-
• sary papers in the case .
The Board then adjourned,
