The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana , met
in regular session at the office of said Board. ; Thuesday April
12th, . 1923, at 9 o' clock A. M. All the members of said Board. ,
Messrs , Land. , •McFai1 and Henley, being present . The fo flowing
proceedings. were had , to -wit :-
The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 687 -1923,
• for the improvement of the 1st alley west of North 10th street
by constructing a cement roadway the full width .thereof, from
North "I" Street north, 'to the . all ey running east & west.
The Board unanimously adopted. Improvement Resolution No.'688-1923,
for the .imprrovement, of North & South loth 'Stre et; by resurfacing
said street with one of the fo liowing mat e ri als ; Bituminous Mac-
adam, Sheet Asphalt , Bituminous Concrete or Re-inforced Concrete ,
from North. "A" to South "A" Street.

The Richmond. Home Telephone Co. , thru Wm. Bailey, MLnager, appear-
- - ed. before the Board requesting the City to enter in to contract
permitting the said Telephone Co. , to'use'.the room or space of
about 3 ft . a0 inches by about 5ft. 3 inches, in the go. 4, Hose
House at Southwest corner of South 9th & "E" Streets. •at a yearly
rental of Six ($6.00) Dollars , the same was referred. to .the City
Attorney. . .
The Cle rk having written Otto Rettig , r. equesti ng him to pay the
- City the sum of 200 .fl0 as agreed. August 16ttr, 1920, . if City would
fill the old pond on west ' side of North 12th Street north of bridge
. and having .received no reply to request . The City Attorney was
directed and authorized to endeavor .to collect said claim of the
city from said. Otto Rettig:

The Clerk was directed to request, Glen White sell and Harry Sti1-
linge r to meet with the Boyd Monday April 16th, 1923.
The 'Building Inspector,, was directed to have target made and erected
in the basement of city hall for use of Police Department , for
.target practice . Also to have Garfield Dixon to place "I" Beam
in police department garage and employ suitable persons to do the
carpenter work in connection with installing new doors . •
The Board received bids for the improvement of South "J" Street
by constructing cement sidewalks , curb & gutters on both sides
of. street from South 9th to 6th Street under Improvement Resolu-
tion No. 664-1923, as follows to-wit : -

The bid of Daniel. G. Burkhardt, being the lavest and bei ng wi th-
in the estimate of the Engineer, the contract was so awarded.
The Board received bids for constructing cement sidewalks 5' wide on
both sides of South 17th Street, from Main to South "A" Street under
Improvement resolution No. 666 -1923, as follows to wit :

-The bid of Daniel G. Burkhardt , being the be st bid recei ved and
being wi thin the estimate of the Engineer , the contract was on motio n
awarded to Daniel G. Bur.khardt .
The Board. received bids for the improvement of the all ey, between
South 17th & 18th Street , by constructs ng cement roadway from South
"A" Street to the north. terminous of said all ey; thence east to
South 18th Str eet, under Improvement itiesolutio n No.667 -1923, as
follows, to -wit : -
" Daniel G. Burkhardt , bid :
Cement roadway complete • , c .22 per square foot .
" Z. B. Pyle Co. , bid : -
Cement roadway complete 5 0.26 rer square foot .
The bid of Daniel G. Burkhardt being the best bid received and
being within the estimate of the Engineer, the contract was on
motion awarded to said Daniel G. Burkhardt .
The Board drafted letter replying to Oak Smith & Sons , letter of
Apr it 9th , 1923, and direct the Clerk to si gn and mail same to
said O. -Smith & Sons.
The Secy. of Board of Health , Dr. Chas. E. Duf_fi n, recommend ed to
the Board that the Crematory and Retenti on Hospital be both pai nted
the Board - takes same under advi cement , for inve stigatian as to
aY:proxxiations covering same .
