The Board of.,�-iPublic Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Monday March 26th , 1923, at 9 0' clock A. M. All the members of said Board , Messrs , - Land , McFall and Henley being present , the following proceedings were had , to-wit : ® The Board granted permission to Aug. F. Kemper, to cut the curb for private driveway at LOt No. 98, on South, "E" Street, between South 10th & llth Street. The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 681-1923 for the improvement of the 1st alley north of North "G" Street, by constructing a cement roadway from North 14th Street , west to the alley running North & South . The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 682-1923 for the improvement of the alley between Southwest 2nd. & 3rd Street, by constructing a cement roadway full width, from Southwest "C" to "D" Street. The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 683-1923 for the improvement of the alley between South 7th & 8th Street, by constructing a cement roadway the full width of alley, from South "A" Street north to the present cement alley. The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 684-n1923 for the improvement of Sherman Street , from Sheridan to Butler St ; Also Butler Street from Sherman to south terminous of Butler Street by grading and graveling the roadway, constructing cement curb and gutter and graveling sidewalks on both sides of said streets. The City Engineer, was directed to prepare an estimate of cost of constructing walks on Doran Bridge , The Board awarded the contract on plumbing ' for the Comfort Station " • to John H. Niewoehner, on the recommendation of Building Inspector with changes in urinals as recommended by him. ( see contract ) The Clerk was directed to request Mr. Edwin Wright , to meet with the Board at his convenience when in the City, for conference on matters pertaining to his various building projects in the city. • The Board change Improvement Resolution No. 679-192 3, providing for cement sidewalks on both sides of North "A" Street, between North 7th & 16th Street , to read Seven (7 ° ) foot sidewalks in- stead of 72 foot walks . • The Street Commissioner was directed to mark Traffic or parking lines on the various streets . County Surveyor .Horton, Asst . Engineer Ppwell , and Attorney Wm. W. Reller, appeared before the Board_ in reference to .the Resolut- ion now before . the Common Council, in matter of improvement of Union Pike commencing at Richmond. Ave . and terminating at the Hagerstown Pike , known as Northwest 5th Street) by cement roadway. • Mondag, March 26 th, 19 23. . 407 Mr. Reller, submitted the following communication, which was ac- cepted and ordered spread on the minutes of the Board . • Board of Pub lic Works March 26th , 1923. Richmond , Indi ana. • Gentlemen : • This letter is to advise you as to the si tuation with reference to the proceedings under the Three-Mile Road. Law for the improvement of Northwest Fifth Street , a part of which improvement is mnside the City of Richmond. At a conference between the Pennsylvania Railroad officials , your city engineer, Mr. Davis , and the county engineer, Mr.Horton,— it was agreed that the rai lroad company should construct a bri dge forty feet in width over the tracks of the Chicago Division on Northwest Fifth Street, and the township, as part oct the road im- provement , should build the approach to the bridge and pay for the road paving over the bridge. The bri dge is to be of cement con- struction upon plans to be drawn by the county engineer, subject to the approval of your city engineer and the railroad company. The plans are to be so drawn that later on as that part of Rich- mond deve lops sid ewalks may be added to the bridge . At this time the city will incur no expense by reason of the improvement . - The p�tus of the road proceedings is such at this time that nothingP"can be done . until the city gives its consent to the im- provement . As soon as this consent is given; viewers will be ap- pointed by the County Commissioners , and in their report they will include the plans and specifications for the bridge . As attorneys for the petitioners in this proceedings, we are glad to assure you that we will not permit any report to be pres- ented by the viewers until the same has been checked over and ap- proved by yout Board, or your city engineer, in so far as it con- cerns the interests of the City of Richmond.
