E. E. Miller, Fire Chief, -preferred charges against Elmer Berg a member of No. 2 Hose C . for being intoxicated while on duty in the hose house. Mr. Berg, appeared before the Board on-.account of sickness at home he stated caused him to get intoxicated, he plead guilty to the charge as made by the Chief. After discussing the matter with the Fire Chief, on account of his previous good record as a fireman, and upon his recommendation, Elmer Berg was 'on motion suspended from the department for a period of 60 days, and his vacation taken away fa the year 1923. Claims to the amount of 04834.57 were allowed & ordered paid. The payrolls of the vari ous departments to March 3, were . approved. • • The Board then adjourned, - f - �. Schneider , reported that Ray Nolte , one of his workmen was injured on one of the ci ty trai lens on the morning of Larch 6th , 1923 , and was 11_i d UT, at this ti me , but did not know the extent of said injury at this ti me . Mari ani contractor under Improvement Resolution No. 659 -1923. The Board authorized the City Engineer to purchase from The Barrett Company, one car load appr oxi me.ti ng 80 Bbls . Tarvia X per gallon, for patching streets , etc . , 390 Thursday March 8th , 1923. The Board unanimously adapted Declaratory Resolution No. 164-1923 to vacate the alley running north & south 1st west of South 7th Street , from the north line of South "J" Stre et north to a point 14 feet south of the south-west corner of Lot No. 6 , Anna M. Klock er s , Additioni to the City of Richmond. The Board unanimously-adopted Impr.ovemerrt Resolution No. 669-1923 For the improvement of Northwest 8th Street ; by grading & paving the roadway with one of the following kinds of modern city pave- ments , to--wit : Concrete , Rock Asphalt , Emulsi fied Asphalt or Bi-- tumi nous ma cadam : Also • constructi ng cement curb & gutter 1' wide and _ cement sid ewalks 6' wid e on both s id es of said street , from Peacock Road. to Richmond Avenue . • The Board unanimously adopted Improvement .
