The Board of Public ►orks of the City of Richmond, Indiana , met in regular session at the office of said Board Monday March 5th 1923, at .9 o' clock A. M. All the members of said Board, Messrs , Land, McFall and Henley being present . The following proceedings were had , to-wit: -- • The Street Commissioner was instrucd tp lace cinders in the alley between North 19th & 20th Street, from North "E" Street north to Glen Ave. , Also , 1st alley south of West Main Street at east end of alley running from Southwest 3rd St. west. Also. , . the alley .between Southwest "A" Street and National .Road; west 'of West 6th -Street ; Also, to remove the ashes from _No . 210 N.W 1st Street. The Board met to .hear remonstrances, if any, of persons primari- ly assessed on account of the vacation of part of the alley bet. North 13th & .14th Street , from North "G" St. to the alley-north under Declaratory Resolution No. 163-1923. No one appearing or remonstrating, the Board takes final action on ' same, the assess- . ment roll for benefits & damages was unanimously approve . and the portion of said alley declared vacated, and the assessment roll was ordered transmitted to the Department of Finance. • The Board approved the contract & bond ' of Daniel G. Burkhardt, contractor under Improvement. Resolutions numbered as follows : 649-1922 , 651-1922, 655-1922, 656-1922 and 658-1923. • • The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No.668-1923. For the . improvement of the alley between South 8th & 9th Street, liy constructing a cement roadway from South "A" , to "B" Street . Sup' t. H. Fulle, of Parks , was directed to repair the coping at North . 10th St. Park, to estop the mud from washing onto sidewalk; . Also., to deliver to the park an iron setee from E. A. Marlatts residence on N. 5th Street, ' donated to parks. A petiti on was presented to improve NW.8th Street , from Peacock Road to Richmond, Ave. by construction of cement sidewalks, C.& G. grading & paving the roadway with cement ,rock asphalt , emulisified ' asphalt . referred to Engineer for plans , etc. , - Permission was granted Forest Miller, to cut the curb for drive- . way at 1206 North "D" Street,under supervision of City Engineer. Mondry Mar ch 5th, 1923. .389 The Clerk was .1rectetd to write Mrs. Frank need, to file pet- ition by next Thursday-, to estop Sieweke from moving the old house from Main Street between 15th 16th Street 'to North "B" • Street. E. E. Miller, Fire Chief, preferred charges against Elmer Berg a member of No. 2 Hose Co. for being intoxi cated while on duty in the hose house. Mr. Berg, appeared before the Board on- account of sickness at home he stated caused him to get intoxicated, he plead guilty to the charge as made by the Chief. After discussing the matter with the Fire 0hief, on account of his previous good record as a fireman, and upon his recommendation, Elmer Berg . was on motion suspended from the department for a period of 60 days, and his vacation taken away fcr the year 1923. Claims to the amount of 04834.57 were allowed & ordered paid. The payrolls of the various departments to March 3, were .approved. • • The Board then adjourned, • .7/ gar rest. of Board • Attest . Schneider , reported that May Nolte , one of his workmen was injured on one of the ci ty tra.i lers on the morning of March 6 th , 1923 , and was 1_ai d up at this ti me , but did riot know the extent of said injury at this ti me . The Clerk reported the various complai nts wefer.r-ed to them at the last sessi on of the Common Counci 1. • The Board arrroved the contract & bond of L. A. Mari ani contractor under Improvement Resolution No. 659 -1923. . The Board authori2ed the City Engineer to purchase from The Barrett C ompany, one car load appr ox;me,ti ng 80 Bb7.1_s . Tarvia X ti 0.14.t per gallon, for patching streets , etc . ,
