Thursday March 1st , 1923.
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met
in regular session at the office of said Board on Thursday March
1st , 1923, at 9 o' clock A. M. All the members of said • Board Messrs,
- Land, McFall and Henley being prdsent . The following proceedings
were had, to-wit : - -
The Clerk reported that he had arranged for a joint meeting with
the County Commissioners and Railroad officials in matter of the
improvement of West 5th Street , for Saturday March 3rd, 1923, at
1. 30 P.M. At Commissioners rooms Court House.
The Board grant permission to Mrs. Chas. Fish to use city lot No.
6 near Bridge Avenue , for gardening purposes during the season
1923, upon the payment of $6.00 to the city for said privilege.
A petition was presented for the improvement of the alley between
South 8th & 9th Street, by constructing a cement roadway from South
"A" to "B" Street , referred to City Engineer for plans , etc. ,
A petition was presented far the constructs cn . of a 12" sanitary
sewerfrom North 14th St. at "B" Street thence east in "B" Street
to the alley running south between North 14th & 15th Street ; thence
south in the alley 200 ft . more or less , referred to Engineer for
investigation.
The Board directed , the Street Commissioner, to make a list of the
streets he intends to repair and the kind of repairs contemplated
arid presearit the same to the Board for their approval.
Messrs , A. Gardner, J.F.Davenport and T.W.Hadley, appraisers ap-
pointed by the City and School Board, to appraise certain property
abutting NW.8th Street between Main St. and the Peacock Road, made
-a majority and minority report on the value of same , and the Clerk
was directed to request the School Trustees to meet with the Board
MLnday March 5th, 1923, to view said appraisements .
The Board received bids for the improvement of North 19th Street,
by constructing cement curb & gutter on both sides thereof. , from
Main St. to Bridge over the AAailroad, under Improvement Resolution
No. 649-1922, as follows : -

The bid of D.G.Burkhardt being the lowest and within the es-
timate of the City Engineer, the contract was on motion awarded
to said Daniel G. Burkhardt.

The Board received bids for the improvement of the 1st alley north
of Main St. from North 21st to 22nd Street ; also , alley between_
North 21st & 22nd Street, from 1st alley north of Main to North "C"
Street, by constructing a cement roadway in said alleys between the
points named, as provided by Improvement lesolution_ No.651-1922,as
follows, to-wit : -

The bid of D. G. Burkhardt, being the lowest and within the esti-
mate of the City Engineer, the contract was on motion awarded to
said Daniel G. Burkhardt.
The Board received bids for the improvement of the alley between
South 10th & llth Street , by constructing a cement roadway- from
South "G" to "I" Street, under Improvement resolution No. 655-1922,
as follows, to-wit : - _ _

The bid of D. G. Burkhardt, being the lowest and within the esti-
mate of the City Engineer,, the contract was on motion awarded to the
said Daniel G. Burkhardt. -
The Board received bids for the improvement of the alley between
North 16th .& 17th Street, by constructing cement roadway from North
"C" to "E" Street , under Improvement liesolution No. 656-1922, as
follows, to-wit :

The bid of D. G. Burkhardt, being the lowest and being within
the estimate of the City Engineer, the contract was do motion awarded
to said Daniel G. Burkhardt.

The Board received bids for the improvement of South "B" Street,
by constructing cement sidewalk 6' wide on the north side , and
standard cement curb & gutter on both sides of said street , from
South 21st to 23rd Street, under Improvement Resolution No.658-1923,
as follows, to-wit :

The Board received bids for the improvement of the alley between
Charles and Williams Street , by constructing a cement roadway from
Boyer to Northwest 2nd Street , under Improvement Resolution No.
659-1923, as follows to-wit : -

No bid received under Improvement Resolution No. 663-1923. the
clerk was directed to re-advertise for bids for March 15th, 1923.
The Board on motion unanimously increased t112,salary of D. C. Hess
Sup' t , of M.E. I.&• P. P. for the year 1923,to th amLount of 4200.00
