The Board of Public Works of the City. of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Monday January 29th , 1923, at 9 o' clock A. M. All the members of said Board Messrs, Land , McFail and Henley being present . The following proceedings were had, to-wit :- Fire Chief Miller, reported that Fireman Frank Davis , had turned in his badges and accepted his pay up to time of his clisVmissal. The Board ordered the following order made a part of the record of todays meeting ; In the matter of the removal of obstructions of the Alley in the rear of the residence of Richard Study. It is hereby ordered by the Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, that notice be served on Richard Study to remove the bricks deposited in the alley in the rear of his residence , be- iween. Main and South "A" Streets, in °the City of Richmond; and if not removed within five days after notice to him of this order that the Street Commissioner remove it at Richard Study ' s expense and us; the City Attorney collect the amount thereof from him. The Clerk was directed to advettise for 300' rubber hose for use of Street Department to be coupled with standard couplings to fit fire department couplings . The Board upon the recommendation of E. E. Miller Fire Chief, ap- pointed Clarence Lane as a member 9f the fire department , subject to his passing the proper examination. After a conferance with Mr. H. Bertram Engineer, for the C. & 0. Ry. Co. of Indiana, the Clerk was directed to notify the C. 8, 0. Ry. Co. of Indiana, thru Mr. Bertram, to lay 24" pipe in place of the 12" pipe under their right-of-way, in line with the gutter on the south side of South "J" Street ; also , to lay 12" pipe in place of the 8" pipe under the sidewalk on south side of South "J" Street on the east side of their right-of-way; Also, to construct the prop- er catch-basin at the entrance of the 24" pipe on south side of said South "J" Street . Fire Chief Miller, presented itemized "Credit Memo No. 5292" in the amount of $169 .95, for work done on his auto , by George W. Davis; Motor Car Company. The Board directed the Clerk to convey their un- animous thanks and appreciation for the splendi.d service rendered to the city free gratis. The Clerk was directed to request Mr. Higginbottom Sup' t , of P.C.C . & St.L.Ry.Co. to have report ready on West 5th Street bridge by next Monde Councilri meeting night . The Street Commissioner was directed to lay 16" pipe across South "L" Street at Railroad, under the supervision of City Engineer. Office of Board of Public Works , 369 Monday January 29th , 1923. The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 665-1923, To improve South 20th Street , from South T'B" Street to Reeveston Road : By constructing cement sidewalk 5' wide, curb. & gutter one ft. wide, cement driveways and parkway retaining curb ; grading parkways , roadways and sidewalks and paving the roadway with one of the following kinds of modern city pavements, to.-wit : Cement- Rock Asphalt - Sheet Asphalt - Mulsified Asphalt and and planting of trees along both sides of the street and thru the center of the parkway and of making , by contract at the owners expense, all private connections with sewer , gas, water and other like pipes and conveniences, and of bringing said connections inside the curb lines of said street for' each lot .
