HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-11-1923 Office of Board of Public IVorks, 363 City of Richmond , Indiana , Thursday January 11th , 1923 The Board of Public Works of the City- of Richmond , Indiana, met • in regular session at the office of said Board , Thursday Januarys • llth , -1923, at• 9 o' clock A. M. The following members of said Board being present , Messrs , McFall and Henley. Absent,Mr®Land , Two members - of said Board being present ; the following proceed- ings were had , to-wit : - • Mr. John Klinger property owner residing on Butler Street, appeared before the Board stated that he had seen by the newgpapers the the Board were not going to improve• Sherman Stre et also Butler Street stating that he thought it about time he was getting relief from the existing condition, claiming that when the city filled or hauled material etc. , onto Sherman Street also the alley west of Butler Street, the water rushes down onto his property making a very un- • desirable condition and a menace to health, the Board promiUed they would investigate he next time it rained, but would not agree they •could give any relief. The matter •.of bill of the Starr Piano Co. for water right rental charged to the M.E.L. & P.P. was referred. to City Attorney. Mr. Hess Sup't , of Light Plant stated that he- had bought 10 car load of from the R. C. Bain Co. last Sept. at 3.50 per ton, with the understanding the coal was to prove O.K. but among the cars there appeared to be one car; -which teas • of a very inferior grade . . of coal and he refused to- accept the same . After the representa- tive of the coal company, came to the city and he told him if Mr. Graham Chief Engineer at .the plant was satisfied with the coal or whatever Mr. Graham decided in the matter he would abide by his deci si on, after some discussion between Mr. Graham and the repre- sentative of-the Coal Co. Their representative agreed that if the City Would accept the coal he would reduce the price on this one car 759;f• per ton. under this agreement and. within this understanding he had accepted the coal. Now the said. Company threatens to sue the ci ty -for this amount stating they -had made no such terms. The matter was referred to the City Attorney.
