Thursday August 24th, 1922.
The Board of- Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met in
regular session at the office of said Board Thursday August 24th ,
_ 1922 , at 9 O'clock A.M.A11 the members of said Board Messrs , Land,
McFall and Renley being present , the following proceedings were
had, to-wit : -
The Clerk reported complaints referred to the Board at last session
of the Common Council, the Clerk was directed to notify Councilman
Ford, to_notify •them of any raised places in sidewalks, and begin-
ning with this winter & spring, they would make an effort to have
the property owners notified to have same repaired.

, The Board meets to hear remonstrances,if any, of persons primarily .
assessed on account of the installation of ornamental,, lights and
posts on both sides of South 7th Street from Main to South "A" St.
under Improvement Resolution No. 632-1922. After hearing all per-
sons interested who appeared, .and carefully considering the com-
plaint made by Mr. E. .Canfield , for the Farmers Trust Co. in matter
of the four posts formerly installed by them and removed by the city
The Board decide that two of the posts had been used, and the other
two be returned to Mr. Canfi eld , and that the city assume the sum of
344.00. as ci ty' s part of this improvement , and the assessment of the
' • said Farmers Trust Co. be reduced in the amount of $44.00, After which
the Board approved a final assessment roll, confirming the primary
_assessment roll as above modified, and now directed the assessment
roll as modified be forthwith transmitted to the Department of Finanee
The Board meets to hear remonstrances, if any, of persons primarily
assessed on accountof constructing cement roadway in the alley between
North 8th & 9th Street, from North "B" to "C" Street, under Improve-
ment Resolution No. 636-1922. No one, appearing or remonstrating, the
Board approves a final assessment roll, confirming in all things the
original assessment roll as heretofore approved. And now direct the ,
assessment roll be forthwith transmitted to the Department of Finance.
The Board approved and signed a contractors certificate in favor of
J. L. •Teegarden, for 85% of contract price based upon the estimate
of the City Civil Engineer, under Improvement Resolution No.623-1922,
,for the improvement of Center Street by paving with concrete andcement
driveway curbs & gutters from NW.2nd to 5th Street. •
The Chief of Fire Department was directed to purchase a second hand
coal stove for use in City jail.
11/ Mr. Hess, was authorized to dispose of valves & fittings at light p
' plant , which they had no further use for . Also, to do the wiring at
Glen Park, for Wayne County Fair at cost . and to take advertising in
the amount of $100.00 for the benefit of plant.
The Board decide to construct toilets at Glen Park, under the plans
and specifications submitted by the City. Civil Engineer.

Mr. Dill, of Richmond City Water Works , appeared before the Board
asking permission to install a 12" water main in North 15th 'Street
running north from North "H" Street , for the time being and that
the Water Works would enter into a written agreement , that when-
ever the street in improved or it becomes necessary they would in-
. stall main of proper dimensions, without any extra expense to the
property owners or city, the Board granted said permission, and
directed the City Attorney to draw up the proper articles of agree-
ment.
- The 5% reserves due on improvements No. 569 -1920 and 591-1921 re-
ported by the City Civil Engineer, for payment, were referred to
Mr. Henley with instructions to investigate as to the conditions
of said improvements.

The Board approved the contract , agreement 8: bond of Marshall E.
Moore to install a gasoline dispenser at 1313 North "G" Street .
The Board approved the various payrolls up to August 19, 1922.
Claims to the amount of $14 , 244.67.- were allowed.
The Clerk was directed to notify Wm. H. Haberkern , to have side-
walk repaired abutting his property 815 North "E" ;Street.
The. Clerk was directed to notify the petitioners for water on
North 13th Street between North "H" .& "J" Street, to make appli-
cation to Richmond City Water Works for same before street is im-
proved.
