The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday August 3rd, 1922, at 9 o' clock A. M. All the members Messrs , Land, Mc Fail and Henley , being present , the following proceedings were had, to-wit : - The Board granted permission to Chas. C. Maddox, to construct or cut the curb for driveway in fron of 1134 North 12th Street . Permission was granted W. h. Dill, to cut the curb for driveway on North "A" Street abutting No. 101 North 12th Street; Also to lay under private contract a sidewalk 7 ' wide by 110' long oil North side of North "A" Street abutting No. 101 North 12th Street the same to be done subject to inspection and approval of the City Civil Engineer. Mr. Howard Dill, from Richmond Cityyilater Works , reported there was not enough revenue to be derived for the laying water main in Hunt Street from School Street north as petitioned for . The Farmers National Grain Assbciati o.n, upon petition was granted permission to tap the sewer at South "L" & 7th Street , by signing the proper agreements in City Engi neers office , that they would not be remonstrators in the construction of any sewer which may be constructed in the future south of said "L" St. or which may be assessed against them, and upon the payment to the City, the sum of p25 .00 for said privilege to tap said sewer. A communication from L. A. Handley, Mayor, was received request- ing action by the ci ty in an endeavor to lower insurance rates. the Board heartily endorse esaid request , and suggest that His. Honor appoint 3 members of the Mfg . Assn. 3 members of Retailers & Wholesalers Assn. together with the present insurance commit tee,Messrs , Bailey, Jenkins & Scoble , as a committee to investi- gate and meet with the Board and He , and make every effort to re- duce the rates. The Board held a conferance with various plumbers from the City on the heating plant of the ci ty building, all plumbers report- ing that the present boiler should be replaced with a new up-to date boiler, and agreed to try and get together as a committee and report as to the best plans to pursue by the city by next Monday tl• M. • The Board held a meeting with the Secy. of Board of Public Health , regarding the best method to eliminate the Weed nuisance , it was that t f• .r , decided l�liC%.0 the Secy, Dr. puffin, place a notice in the city press, notifying lot owners of the law respecting the growth of weeds on lots & ground, and also notifying them that if said weeds are not cut and destroyed by August 15th , 1922, the Board of Health would take drastic action against persons whose duty it was to see that the same are destroyed. - The Board unanimously adopted Improvement. No. 5 House , not to exceed 5��0.00, Upon the recommendation of D.C.Hess, Manager of K. E. B. & P. P. the Boare awarded the contract for furnishing the Truck Chassis for said plant , bids for which were 'received July 27th , 1922, For the heavy Chassis to the International Harvester Co. of America for 1 ton Model S International, complete as advertised forS¢l426. 68 with allowance of NG00.00 for old Defiance Truck . Net price 826 .65 . Also to the Bethard Auto Agency. Dodge Bros ,Chassis , 910.00. Mr. Hess , was directed to have bodies for the above Chassis constructed and mounted on said chassis . Upon recommendation of Mr. Hess, the Board accepted Improvement of South '7th St . from Main to South "A" St . under Improvement Hes0-- lution No. 632-1922, Ornamental Lighting System, and approved a primary assessment roll on same . The Board approved a primary assessment roll for the improvement of alley by cement roadway, between North 8th & 9th Street from North 'B" to 'IC" Street,under Improvement Resolution-No.636-1922 .
