Thursday July 27th , 1922:. '
The Board of Public Works of. the City of Richmond , Indiana, met in
regular session at the officeof *said Board Thursday July 27th,1922,
at 9 o' clock A. M. All the members of said Board. Messrs , Land , McFail,
and I:enley being present , the following 'proceedings were had, , to-wit : --
The Board directed the City Engineer to change the grade in the 1st
alley South. of Main Street from South 21st Street to the alley between
South 21 st & 22nd Street, the additional cost of said change to be
paid for by Wm. Cummins and Wm. A. Bond, property owners abutting same.
The City to grade at entrance to alley running south from said alley.
The Board received letter from the Board of Commissioners .of .Wayne •
County, fixing the ,1st Monday in August at 1.30 P.M. at Commissioners
room for the meeting requested by th'e Board .of Public Works . .
The City Engineer, reported that if Mr. E. Canfield would install
the proper back valves in his basement to - sever connected with South
7th Street sewer, his trouble of backing water would. be eliminated.
The Board received reply in matter of placing trash receptacles along
streets by- the White Way Advertising Co, free of_ any cost to the City
which was .referred to City Attorney.
The Board e rece ive d reply from the • Safety Traffic Guide. C o. of Elkhart,
that they would have the ,glass as ordered shipped in a few days.
The Board directed Henry Fulle Sup' t, of parks to have - the fountains
placed in South 7th Street and the Davis Parks .
The Board received petition to install light in the alley between
. south 7th & 8th Street & "A" & "B" Street, referred to Manager Light
Plant.
The Richmond City Water Works Co. where instructed to remove the
Meter at City' s property west and north of Doran Bridge.
The Board meets to hear remonstrances , if any of persons pritarily
assessed on account: of improvement of South 5th Street from South "A"
to "E" Street by paving the roadway with Concrete , under Improvement
Resolution No. 612-1921. No one appearing or remonstrating, The Board
approved a final assessment roll, confirming in all things the origi-
nal assessment roll as heretofore approved, and now direct the assess-
ment roll be transmitted forthwith to the Department. of Finance .
The City Engineer reported the completion of the improvement of the
alley between Northli8th & 9th Street by cement roadway from North
"B" to "C" Street as provided under Improvement Resolution No. 636-
- 1922, the Board accepted the same , and ordered assessment roll pre-
pared •
The City Engineer reported the completion of contract for Lighting •
System on South 7th Street from Main to - South "A" Street under Im-
provement Resolution No.. 632-1922. The Board directed the Clerk to
request the Richmond Electric Co. to have their representative meet
with them Monday July 31 , 1922 at their meeting, to go 'over the charge
of extra, post , etc . , •

Pursuant to advertisement , for one heavy motor driven trunk chas-
sis , from 1 to 2 ton capacity , and one light truck chassis from 2
to 1 ton capacity, to be fully equipt, with open cabs , starters,
lights , etc. ,bidders in submitting proposals to state the amount
they will allow if any for the present "Defiance Motdr Truck" used
by the City Light Plant , all for the use of said M.B.L.& P.F. the
following bids were received, to-wit:
I/ Bethar d Auto Company, bid ;
1 ton Graham Bros Truck with Dodge Bros , power plant , ; 1, 510.00
above complete with no cab or body lighter springs---- 1, 395.00
Will allow $325 .00 on one or _$450 .00 if both are purchase,for the
old "Defiance Truck" , or both $2,455.00. Dodge Bros i ton $910.00
complete with screen body $ No. 4 $935 .00.

International Harvester Co. cf America, bid ;
Model 'S' International 1-ton capacity, complete 41,426 .68

The above bids were referred to manager of Light Plant for
examination & investigation and report.
The Board aY,proved the various payrolls to July 22, 1922 .
Bills in the amount of $3,012 . 95 where allowed.
The Clerk was directed to reou est various plumbers in city, to
investigate the heating system in city building and prepare an
estimate on changing the system from Vacuum to gravity system and
forward to the Board by Thursday August 3rd, 1922 .their estimate.
A petition for crater main extension in Hunt Street. , north of School
St. signed by A.A.Blossom & 3 others was received & referred to
Richmond City Water Works .
