HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-29-1922 292 -Office of Board of Public Works , City. of Richmond, Indi.ana, • Thursday June 29 th, 19 22. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board, Thursday June 29th , 1922, at 9 o'clock A.M. The following members being present, Messrs , McFall and Henley , Absent, Mr. Land. Two members of said Board be- ing present , the following proceedings were had , to-wit : - - Pursuant to continuance , the Board met with the. Board of Metropoli- tan Police Commie- Toners and the Sup' t. , of Police to consider the various automobiles (bids) received 22nd ,1922,The Board after hear- ing report from Police Commissioners and representative of the Pilot Motor Car Co. , as to future service etc. ,to be rendered by said Co. in case the city purchased a car from said company, Mr. Henley then moved that upon the recommendation of the Sup't. , of Police and Board of Police Commissioners , the contract for furnishing said police auto, be awarded to Pilot Motor Car Co, provided, they draw up proper con- tract and agreement as per verbal contract, suitable to both depart- ' meets , motion prevailed and contract so awarded, price 1695 .f.o.b. delivered including war tax , etc . , Messrs , Tangeman and Fulghum, appeared before the Board, in refer- ance to the heating plant in City Building, Mr. Tangeman, presented ag estimate of the cost of installing two new boilers of the Wayne Heater Corporation type , for the some of$2900.00 to change the pres- ent heating system removing pump in basement complete 4' 00.00. the Board takes same under advisement for consultation with the council. Mrs . M.E.Brokamp was granted permission to cut the curb for drive- way at No. 80 Ft-Wayne Ave . - A letter from L. Salzarulo, in referance to water mains in North 15th St , from "H" to "I" St. petitioned for by property owners along said street, requesting the city' s cooperation in having said main laid was received , and laid over for investigation with Richmond Water Works and said Salzarulo. ' A petition signed by John Klinger, for the improvement of Butler St. from Sherman to south terminal of street, by grading,graveling of roadway and constructing cement curb & gutter both sides , with gravel- ed sidewalks , was received and taken under advi sement . The Clerk was directed to. notify the Richmond Electric. Co. , to in- stall extra lamp post at Reid Hardware Store on South 7th Street, as requested by Mr. Reid , he • to be charged for the cost of said extra post . The Board meets to hear remonstrances, if any, of persons primarilyI/ assessed on account of the improvement of South "D" St,by construct- ing cement sidewalk on both sides of street ,except where already laid & in good condition,from S.1.1th to 14th St. as provided for by Im- provement Resolution No.618-1922. No one appearing or remonstrating the Board approved a final assessment ro ll,confi rming in all things the original assessment roll as heretofore approved.and now order the same transmitted forthwith to the department of finance . Thursday June 29 th, 1922. 293 The Board meet® to hear remonstrances, if any, of persons pri- marily assessed on account of the improvement of both sides of South 6th Street, by constructing a Sanitary Sewer in South 6th Street,running from the South "H" Street sewer to a point north in South 6th Street , where the C .& O.Railroad crosses said 6th Street , as provided for by Improvement Resolution No. 621-1922 , After" hearing all persons interested who appeared, (No one appearing) the board approves a final assessment roll, confirming in all things, the original assessment roll as heretofore approved and allows a final estimate for the construction of the said improve- ment in favor of John S. Duke, for $1004.63, less $50 . 23,5% re- tained on said improvement for one year, Said assessment roll is further ordted transmitted forthwith tonthe Department of Finance . The City Civil Engineer reports the completion of the improvement of South 5th Street , from South "A" Street to South "E" Street, by constructing of concrete roadway between the points named;' Also constructing a sewer in South "C" Street ,from South 5th St. to alley west , running north & south and in South "B" Street from South 5th to 6th Street for storm water, as provided for by Im- provement Resolution No. 612-1921, and a final estimate in favor of Hiatt Construction Company, contractors , in the sum of 824 ,046 .28 Water taps $109.69 and gas taps $34.50 , total cost of 24 ,190.47 , less 5% retained for one year.
