The Board pf Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Monday June 26th , 1922, at 9 o' clock A.M. All the members of said Board Messrs, Land, MoFail & Henley being present,- the following proceedings were had, to-wit:- Pursuant to continuance to this date, the Board meet to take up . hearing and remonstrance filed against Improvement Resolution No. 642-1922, for the improvement of the aley between South 17th & 181ah St, for cement roadway from South "A" Street north to the trminous of alley thence east to South 18th Street, the Engineer reported that there are 28 resident property owners residing along the line of said improvement 15 of whom have signed a remonstrance , the Board on motion of Mr. Henley, decide that the benefits to property liable to be assessed 'for said improvements are equal to the cost of same as reported by the City Engineer and confirm the resolution without modification, and as- one of the remonstrators Mrs.G.Henley -had requested her name be stricken from the remonstrance , wiich would make it a tie between the remonstrators & petitioners, the Board refer the improvement in the form of an ordinance to the Com- mon Council of this city with the request that the ordinance be adopted. The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 648-1922, for the construction of a cement sidewalk 5' wide on north aide of North "D" Street, from North 14th. to •15th Street. The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 649-1922, , for the improvement of North 19th Street , by the construction of cement curb & gutters on both sides of said street, from Main St. to the Bridge over the railroad, with the proviso, that as the street has been oiled for•. this year, and it would be late in the season before this construction could be completed, and thereby spoil the street for the balance of this year, the Board decide to push this improvement as far along as possible and hold for receiving bids for one of the first to be taken up next year. The Board approved a primary assessment roll in the matter of the construction of a sanitary sewer in first alley west of South 6th St, from South "H" to "I" Street , under Improvement Resolution No. 627-1922. The City Engineer reported the completion of the Sewer in the ter- ritory between the Peacock Road and Richmond Ave. from North-west 5th Street to the alley west of Northwest 8th Street , under Improve- ment Resolution No. 616-1921, and accepted the same and approved a primary assessment roll therefor. The Board granted permission to Rudolph Miller, to cut the curb under private contract at No. 26 South 13th Street, for driveway. The Board approved the bill of F. E. Slick, for garbage contract in the sum of $172.22 for 10 days hauling for June, 1922, and ordered the same to be paid. _ Monday June 26 th, 1922. 291 The Board received communication from J.T.Wetherill, stating they had a place just north ofjl.loth Street bridge on west side of street would like to have filled in, granting the city permission to haul' their refuse in order to make such fi 1, the Board accepted the same for humping refuse and directedL to notify J. T.W'etherill of - said acceptance with thanks. Pursuant to request made to the City Engineer, some time ago in the - matter of Garbage, etc. , the Engineer presented the following sug- gestions, viz : Health Department , to have charge of Weed Complaints, Garbage Complaints, Garbage complaints registered at Crematory phone 1301 or Dr. Duffin, phone 2683; Note; The garbage drivers have been em- ployed C $5.00 each per day, the man at Crematory fr $80.00 per month part time with the Light Plant, after work is organized at the Cre- matory. Street Department , to have charge of condition of streets & sewers holes in the streets, bridges & fountains repairs, together with a chart of Garbage collection as proposed. • The Board accepted the suggestions and directed Dr. Duffin Secy . be notified. Mr. D. C. Hess, Manager of M.E.L.& P.P. was authorized to purchase a car-load of cement for use of plant and bridges , etc , in Parks. Upon the recommendation of Mr. Hess, the Clerk was directed to notify the Richmond Electric Company, to use No. 8 cable or wire instead of No. 6, as called for in specifications for lighting sys- - tem being installed in South 7th Street , from Nain to S . "A" St. under Improvement Resolution No. 632-1922. The Clerk was directed to advertise fcr bids for Ford Roadster or its equal, to have a light truck made for Public Parks. Mr. D.C.Hess, Manager of M.E.L.& P.P. reported an increase for the yayroll of the plant for the month of June, 1922, in sum of $202.50. The matter of Lot 47 0.Kinsey Add. condemned in 1896 , and sold by the Treasurer for del. taxes shown to be condemned and in the street under the Main St,to Chester Hudelson, attention was called by the fact that this lot is still assessed in the name of .C.C.Hudelson, and has been a part of Main St, since 1896, the matter was referred to th - the City Attorney.
