Q
RE: Road Closure for Homecoming Parade (U.5. Route 30 & Illinois Rt. 126)
Dear Mr. Kos:
The Village of Plainfield would like to request a closure of IL Route 126 and US Route 30
from Route 59 west to the western juncture of .Routes 12'6'& 30 for the 52"d Plainfield High Schaal
Homecoming Parade, scheduled for Saturday, October 11, 2003, from 8:00 a.m. to 1.1:00 a.m.
The parade route will start at Lockport Street/IL 126/US 30 at Old Van Dyke Road, and
proceed east ari Lockport St.(US 30j to Illinois Street, then south on Illinois to Commercial Street,
west on Commercial to )amen Street south to Plainfield High School Central Campus. Thin is a
slight adjustment from prior years, as we will not be going onto Route 59. The volume of traffic on
Route 59 is prohibitive far long closures and safety reasons; therefore, this route will allow all lanes
of Route 59 to remain open.
Route 126 eastbound will be detoured onto northbound Route 30 to 143`d Street then east
to Rt. 59; westbound Route 126 will be directed northbound, on Route 59 to 143` Street west to
Route 30, and then south to Route 126. Route 30 traffic will be detoured onto 143`d from bath the
east and west. We will place the. required. detour signs on all roads affected by the parade, and
physically have police officers at these detour locations to provide motorist assistance.
Signed copies of the .Resolution and Certification will be forwarded upon their execution at
the October 6, 2003 meeting of the Village Board. As always, thank you for your help in handling
our requests for highway closures.
Sincerely,
~~
Donald E. Bennett
