HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-29-1922 Office of Board of Public Works 275 City of Richmond , Indiana , Monday May 29th, 1922. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indi a na , met in regular session at the office of said Board , Monday May 29th, 192.2 , at 9 o ' clock A. M. All the members of said Board , Messrs , Land , McFall and Henley , being present the following proceedings were had, to-wit:I/ - Pursuant to Notice , the Board met with the Insurance Committee on matter of insurance carried by the City , after some discussion as to amount to be carried and rates , the Board decide to retain the committee as appointed, 2essrs , Jesse Bailey, Atwood Jenkins and gym. 3coble , to keep in touch with the city, as to any neces- sary changes in amounts to be carried or anything which may arise to give the city the best protection, the said committee for the necessary- services in connection therewith, to be given a larger share of the city' s business . The Clerk was directed to write the City Clerk , of south Bend , Ind. requesting their ordinance regarding the conning of Motor Buses in their city. The Clerk was directed to advertise for Band Concerts in Glen Miller Park for the season 1922. The Engineer was directed to ascertain the cost of uniforms for garbage haulers. The Board received a petition from the Earlham College Jubilee Committee, requesting permission to construct a canvas sign above Hain Street, for the purpose of advertising the 75th Anniversary of the founding' of Earlham . This being against a City Ordinance the Clerk was directed to notify said committee , that they would have to go to the Common Council and have the ordinances suspend- ed for the period of time requested. The Board approved a contract & bond of Clifford C . jevi_ngton to install a Gasoline , Oil & Air Dispenser at 1530 Main Street . The Board approved a contract e: Bond of W. S. Evans to install a Gasoline , Oil &CAir Dispenser at t"-1001 North 10th Street. The Board approved the contract & bond of the McMahan Tire and Battery Service Co. to install a Rapid Dayton Gasoline , Oil & Air Dispenser in front of #315 Northwest 5th Street. The Board grant J. & A. Ahaus , permission to cut the curb at 501 South 9th Street, for driveway across sidewalk. The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 645-1922 I/ for the construction of cement sidewalk 6 ' wide on west side of South 7th Street, from South "h" to "J" Street. Byram Robbins , Attorney for Elmer Williams , appeared before the Board in matter of permitting the ste mlaunch placed in Lake at Glen Miller Park, heretofore requested, the Board stated as a Boa(td they were unanimously opposed to allowing said launch an lake , but if they could show thru their respective councilman that there is a demand therefore they would -ithdraw their objections . 276 Monday May 29th, 1922. The Board approved the contracts & bonds of Daniel G. Burkhardt, Contractor, on the following Improvements a s follows, Improvement Resolution No. 631-1922, for cement alley between South 9th & 10th St. from South "G" to "I" Street ; Improvement Resolution No. 634- 1922, for cement curb & gutter on both sides of North "I)" Street , from North 12th to 13th Street ; Improvement Resolution No. 636- 1922, for cement alley between North 8th & 9th Street , from North "B" to "C" Street. The Board ordered the Street. Commissioner to have the weeds cut _on the City' s property on east side of Northwest let Street .
