HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-25-1922 Office of Board of Public Works 273 City of Richmond , Indiana , Thursday May 25th , 1922. The Board of Public_ Works of the City of iqchmond , Indiana , met in regular session' at the office of said Board , Thursday May 25th, 1922, Messrs , Land and McFall present , Absent , Mr. Henley. Two members of said Board being present , the following proceedings were had. to-wit : A petition was presented for the improvement of North 13th Street , by grading , graveling, cement sidewalks, curb & gutters on both sides from North "HT' to "J" Street, was taken under advisement to await report of the City Civil Engineer, on valuation of prop- erty affected. A petition was presented for the improvement of South 7th Street , by the construction Hof cement sidewalk 6' wide on west side of street, from South "H" to "J" Street, referred to Engineer for plans , etc . , The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 642-1922 for the_ improvement of the alley between South 17th & 18th Street, by constructing a cement roadway from South "A" St. north to the north terminal of alley ; thence east to South 18th Street . The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 643-1922 for the improvement of the alley between South 15th & 16th Street by constructing a cement roadway from South "A" St , to the 1st alley tanning east & west 1st South of Main Street , except sa ch portions of said alley now laid & in good condition. Upon the_ recommendation of Dr® Chas . Duffin, Secy, of the Board of Public Health, the Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 644.e 1922, for the imprcvement of the aley between North 13th & 14th Street , by constructing a cement roadway from North "D" to "R" Street . - - • The City Engineer was directed to notify the Hiatt Constuction Co. to make the intersection at South "E" & 5th Strut , in a condition so that the Fire Department can get into South 5th Street , below "E" Street if necessary. The Board accepted and signed- upon the recommendation of the City Civil Engineer and City Attorney, an agreement with the Earlham College , for right -of-way for sewer being now constructed thru their grounds to the Disposal Plant . ( See Agreement ) . and direct the Clerk to have the same recorded. 11/ .The matter of Messrs , Williams & Rogers , placing large motor boat on Glen Miller Lake , continued to this date , the Baird decide that in view of the fact , they did not believe the lake large enough for such a boat, and thereupon decide that permission for such a boat on the lake at this time be not granted? The Building Inspect- or was directed to grant to Mr. Rogers, permission under the law to remove the boat from North 10th Street, out of the City. 74 Thursday May 25th , 1922. The Board received bide , for construction of cement roadway in the alley between South 9th & 10th Street , from South "G" to "I" Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 631-1922, as follows,viz ; " Daniel G. Burkhardt , bid : Cement rr.adway complete -• - 0.23 per sq-foot . " E. M. Curtis , bid: Cement Roadway complete - - . 00.23 per sq-foot . " J. L. Teegarden, bid : Cement roadway complete - - 6'0.. 23 per sq-foot. As all bids being equal, and as Mr. Burkhardt , has no city work at this time , the Board with the consent of other' bidder:., • award the contract to said Daniel G. Burkhardt . The Board received bids for the construction of cement curb & 'gut- ters on both sides of North "D" Street , from North 12th to 13th Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 634-1922,as follows,viz : " Daniel G. Burkhardt , bid: • Straight curb & gutter -• - 01.06 per 1i n-foot Circle curb & gutter - - 1. 28 " " E. M. Curtis, bid: Straight curb & gutter - • - 01.15 per lin-foot Circle curb & gutter - -- 1. 25 " " The bid. of Daniel G. Burkhardt, being' the lowest & being within the estimate of the 'City Civil Engineer, the contract was on mot- ion awarded to said Daniel G. Burkhardt'. The Board received bids for the construction of a cement roadway in the alley_ between North 8th & 9th St, from North. "B" to "C" St. under Improvement Resolution No. 636-1922 , as follows, viz :- " Daniel G. Burkhardt, bid : Cement Roadway complete - ti 0. r0 per sq-foot " E. Y. Curtis , bid : Cement Roadway complete - - 0. 202 per sq=fo.ot " J. L. Teegarden, bid: Cement Roadway complete— - 00. 23 per se-foot . The bid of Daniel G. Burkhardt, being the lowest and within the estimate of the City Civil Engineer, the contract-;Pas on motion so awarded. • JCity Engineer 8;r The Board met with Messrs, Stillinger , Strate & Brown, 'Public Welfare & Education Committee, of Council, in matter of Public Comfort Station, after considerable discussion and viewing plans of City Engineer for station under Light Plant Office , The Board • Mr. Hess of Light Plant, decide the light ' plant should construct & maintain the station if legal , and decide to take the matter up with the City Attorney. The Clerk was directed to notify the Insurance Committee, Messrs , Bailey, Scoble & Jenkins-, to meet with them Monday May 29 , 1922, at 9 . 30 A.M. and have list of insurance agency of this ci ty to- gether wi th rate- book on insurance .
