City ' of Richmond ,- Indiana,
Thursday May 18th, 1922.
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met
in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday May 18th,
1922 . All the members. of said Board Messrs, Land , McFall & Henley
being present , the following proceedings were had , to-wit : -
The Clerk reported the various complaints referred to them at the
last session of the Common Council , the City Engineer was direct-
ed to make report as to improving Sherman St. and Butler St.
The Clerk was directed to notify the Richmond Gravel Co. as to haul-
ing on Southwest "A" St. Also to notify Mr. Hipskind to look after
Randotph Street,also to look up the record as to who ordered the
• Arch built at Glen Miller & report . Also to again notify property
owners and. Engineer -& St. Commissioner as to other. complaints.
The Buildi !gig Inspector was instructed not • to allow bui lding Pc heavy
• structures to be moved over the streets , . with first suabmittin_g the
application for such removal to the Board .
The Board directed that ti dos. No Parking Signs be made for Police
Department, to be used where large bui ldings are being erec teV&L
on narrow streets .
Mr. J. F. Hipskind , was granted permission to excavate in South 20th
Street and haul the di rt therefrom, from South "B, " to "E" Street;
_ E catatitgetocbe clone to the satisfaction of the Board . The Board
donate to Mr. Hipskind the boulders at the City Gravel Pit if he
will haul the same therefrom.
The Deed for the property of A. & B. March_, Tract 199 , east of SW.
let Street, was referred to City Attorney for investigation. Also •
as to the rights of Mr. E. Williams , regarding his concessions in
Glen Miller Park (Lake ) .

The Board received bids for the improvement of Pearl Street , from
NW.lst to Nw. 5th Street , by constructing cement curb & gutters on
both _sides , under Improvement Resolution No. 626--1922 , asfollors ;

The bid. of Z.B.Pyle Co. being the lowest & within the estimate
of the City Civi 1EnRi neer, the contract was so awarded.

The Board received bids for the improvement of the 1st alley north
of Main Street, by cement roadway from North 12th to 13th Street,
under Improvement Resolution' No. 630-1922, as follows ,viz :
"E. M. Curtis, bid :
Roadway complete - - - 0. 201, square ft .
Daniel G. Burkhardt , bid:
Roadway complete - - - Y). 5-'0?-T square ft.
" Z. B . Pyle , Co. bid : -

" John F. Hipskind , bid :

Irlr. Curtis cc Burkhardt being. the lowest bids received and being
the same , and within the estimate of the City Civil Engineer,th e
contractors on the flip of a coin decide E. E. Curtis , should be
awarded the contract , which Was on motion of Mr. Henley concurred
in, and the contract awarded to said R.i .Curtis.
The Board received bids for installing Ornamental Lighting System
on both sides of South 7th Street, from Main to South "A" Street
under Improvement. Resolution No. 632-1922, as follows, viz :
"Richmond Electric Company, bid :
Total installation complete - y?1, 984.00
The bid of the Richmond Electric Company, being the only bid re-
ceived and being with the estimate , the contract was on motion of
Mr. McFai.l, so awarded.
The Board received bids for the improvement of the first alley
South of North "A" Street , by constructing a cement roadway,from
North 7th to 8th Street , under Improvement Resolution No. 6 33-1922 .
as follows, Vi2 :

Messrs , Curtis & Burkhardt , being the lowest bids received
and being equal , they decided on the flip of coin that E.M.Curtis
should have the contract, the bids being within the estimate of
the City Civil Engineer, on motion of Mr. Henley the contract was
awarded to said E. h. Curtis .
The Board received bids" for 1000 feet more or less of Fire Hose
for use in Fire Department, as follows , to -wit :

The Board on motion divide the contract, and award to the Boston
Wooven Rubber Hose Co. contract to furnish 450! Bay State at the
price of 3500.00, they agreeing to furnish 1-50ft .Bay State extra .
The Board award to the Eureka Fire Hose Dept . contract for 450ft.
Multiple Wooven Hosem for the price of 3500.00.
The Board approved the various payrolls to May 16th , 1922.
The Board approved the bond of Jesse Druly, for removal of garbage
from Crematory.
The Beard- directed D. C . Hess, Gen . Manager of the M.E.L.& P. P.
to install an Arc Lamp on North "AST Street.,. between North 5th &
6th Street.
The Board then adjourned,
