HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-06-1922 Office of Board of Public Works , 23 City of Richmond , Indiana , Thursday 4pril 6th , 1922. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday April 6th, 1922, at 9 o' clock A. M. All the members of said Board ,Mes crs , Land , McPail and Henley , being present . The following proceedings were had, to-wit : 1/ Pursuant to continuance to this date , the Board take up the matter of bids submitted Thursday March 23, 1922, under Improvem+eit Reso- lution No. 619--1922, for the donstruction of General Relief Sewer for the Southwest Sewer System from SVJ. "E" St. to Disposal Plant , The bid of "Connor, Bearly -& Jinks , of Connersville, Indiana , being 08.40. per linear ft.. & 5p384 .00 for manhole complete , thr same being the lowest & best bid submitted,and being within the estimate of the City Civil Engineer, the contract vas on motion awarded to the said Conno R,Bearly & Jinks . The Clerk reported the various complaints referred to them by the City Council on April 3rd, 1922. The Board received blue print of plan for remodeling bridge over North "F" Street at Wayne Works of Richmond, approved by the City Civil Engineer, together Pith application of Building Permit issued by the Building Inspector as follows, viz : This permit is issued subject to the rights of the City of Richmond , to cause the same to be removed upon reasonable notice given, signed by J.Ed. Higgs ,Bldg. Inspector, and The Wa,+ne Works, by Warren Clements , Treas. on motion the Board approved said permit subject to the right of the City of 'Richmond , Indiana, to cause the same to be removed upon due not-ice being given by said City . The Board received remonstrance -signed by the Cin.Ft-W yne E Richman Ry.Co, P. C. C. & St.L. Ry.Co, & the G.R.& I.Ry. Co. against the improvement of Center Street as provided under Improvement Resolut- ion No. 623-192 2, the same was referred to the City Attorney for in- vestigation and legal opinion by April 10, 1922. u The Clerk was directed to notify Committee of Insurance Men, Messrs i1.Bradbery , W.Scoble & A. Jenkins , to have their report ready to submit to the Board by Thursday April 13, 1922. to resort The Clerk was directed to request the Sanitary Inspector, as to what his intentions are in thematter of the alley between North 13th �. nth S t , from North "B" to "E" Street, as to ord.d ring the same cemented or vacated. The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 630-a1922, for the i pfrce, e:c t on the 1st alloy north of Main Street ,bC` con- ; tr ding ce=t roe?-way from North 12th to 13th Street. The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 631-1922 for the improvement of the alley between South 9th F: .�0 h Street ' i r ' t by constructing cement road aT from South "G" to "I" Street. . 244 Thursday April 6th , l N f'2. The Board unanimously adopted improvement 1iesolution No. 632-1922 for the improve..ient of both sides cf South 7th Street, by instal- ling an Ornamental Lighting System, from Main to South "A" Street. The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 633-1922 for improvement of the 1st alley South of North "A" Street, by cement roadway from North 7th to 0th Street. _ _ Pursuant to advertisement , the Board received bide for Four (4) 6" Non-return valves, and One ( 1) Forced Draft Fan, for the benefit of the H.B.L.& P.P. as follows , to-wit : "The I`m.Powell Co , Cincinnati , Ohio, bid : Four (4) 6" Automatic Non-return Valves , 0425 .00 each-- 1700.00-f. o.b. " Golden-Anderson Valve Specialty Co,Pittshurgh ,Pa. bid: Four 6" Automatic non-return valves, 0325.00 each---01300 .00-f. o.b. " The Edward Valve & Mfg.Co. One ( 1) Coppus Vano Blower, Type St. $1025 .00 f.o.b. Richmond , Ind. , The Board take all bids under advisement for investigation until Thursday April 13, 1922. Mr . D. C . Hess, Com.Mngr , of M.E.L.& P.P. appeared before the Board requesting permission to paint the light posts in Reeveston,granted he was also directed by the Board to have the. Arc lights cleaned & painted and in replacing any of the colored globes that may break he was directed to replace the same with clear globes , ( These are • globes colored red which obscure the light at alarm boxes) c Mr. Hess, was authorized by the Board to hold a conference with Robert Ashe , and Attorney together with the City Attorney. The Clerk was directed to notify the Fire Chief , Police Chief, Market Master, Street Commissioner, City Engineer and Sup" t , of Light Plant to meet with them Monday April 10, 1922, to confer on gasoline & oil. The board allowed claims to the amount; of $51,313 .77 and approved the payrolls up to April 1st , 1922.
