Thursday March 16th , 1922..
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met
in regular session in the offs c-e of said Board Thursday March 16th,
1922, at 9 . o'clock A. M. All the members of said Board , Messrs ,
Land , McFail & Henley' being pre sent . The following proceedings
were had, to-tit : - - -
City Controller Webster Parry , requested permission to pay gas bills
in time to save the discount if properly oked, whether passed on by
the Board or not, on motion this permission was granted.
Petition of A. L. Terrell & Son, to cut the curb , for driveway in
front of 921 Sheridan Street under private contract, was on motion
granted.

Upon petition A: L. Pfeiffer was grantedeto construct under private
contract the private alley 1st north of Natiohal Road, from S.W. 2nd
Street , west . •
The City Engineer D.B.Davis , reported in the matter of purchase of
Wm. Haberkern' s property on South 5th Street ,ad ja.cent to our City
Market House Lot . recommending that the purchase of this property
be given earnest consideration, for the reason that the present
market house site is advantegous for the purpose, due its • central
location & accessibility, and as the- marketing facilities are very
inadequate in the present building and enlargements will , no doubt ,
be necessary in the near future . When improvements are made; the ac-
quisiti.on of Wm. Haberkern' s property would make it possible to more
nearly square out the land now owned by the City. The property is
- in very .bad condition at pre sent which should n-ake it possible to
acquire at a low valuation. The matter was left to Mr. McFall to
have the property appraised and get an option on same.
On motion Mr. Hess, Com. Mngr , of Light Plant was directed to con-
tract with the Richmond Electric Otmpany, for Fuse Plugs at list
price less discount of 42% On standard packages or over.
Also to have the old brick stack torn down-, cost not to exceed $75.
with proper compensation insurance etc . to protect pro perty- and
persons
Mr. Hess, presented an explanatory report on the maintenance cost
and current for the City 'Street Lighting systems , which was ordered
placed on file , and he• was directed to furnish the Mayor with a
- copy of said report, H-e was directed to go over the system in glen
- Miller & see if some of the meters could not be taken out , to save
the minimum rate e charged the city.
The Clerk was directed to advertise for painting all buildings in
Parks, benches & tables , etc , labor & material , labor .& tools only ;
and material only. ( 2 coat work )
The Board approved the payroll of Light Plant to 3/15 , -6'4,088.08.
The Board then adjourned, - -
