The Board of Public -Works of the City. of Richmond , Indiana, met in regular session in the office of Board Thursday March 9th , 1922,at 9 o' clock- A. -M. All the members of said Board Messrs , Land ,McFail, and Henley being present , the . following proceedings were had, to- wit : A communication from Wayne Works was received requesting permis- sion to widen their over-head bridge across North "F" Street be- tween North 15th & 16th Street, which was on motion, referred to Fire Chief, Building Inspector and City Attorney, to go over the matter with- said Wayne Works officials , and present the final plans and agreements to the Board at their next meeting. Permission was granted to Wayne Works to construct under private contract driveway 'curb on North 15th near their factory; also to Mrs . Stephan Ruh, to construct under private contract a driveway at 1012 South 5th Street ; Also to W. B. McMahan, driveway at 605 West Main Street under private contract. The Board unanimously adopted the following improvement resolutions as follows, to-wit: - Improvement Resolution No. 624-1922 , Cement Roadway in 1st alley south of Main Street , from South 21st to 22nd St. Improvement Resolution No. 625-1922- Cement roadway in alley be- tween South 9th & 10th St, from South "G" to "H" Street. Improvement Resolution No. 626-1922- West Pearl Street , by construct- ing Cement curb & gutter both sides',frorn "NW.'Tst to JW.'5th Street- . Improvement Resolution_ No. 627-1922, For Sanitary Sewer in lst-al- ley west of South 6th Street from Trunk Sewer in South "H" Street to South "I" Street . Petition and resolution was presented for improvement of Northwest 4th Street , by construction of cement sidewalk 6' wide & Curb and gutter was presented, A remonstrance signed by J. Rethmeyer et-al was also filed, the great majority of resident owners having re- monstrated, the Board at the suggestion of Mr. Rethmeyer '4 o stated that he was of the opinion if this improvement was deferred' another year until conditions have" become more normal,action was deferred until latter in the year . ' - - Mr. J. Rethmeyer, was granted permission to garden the east end of Chestnut Street from West 5th Street west apprx. 200 ft. upon the payment to the City at the rate of 3y? per 100 square feet . The Board granted permission to the Veterans Foreign Wars , permis- sion to close North "A" Street, from 9th to 11th Street for Shows and various attractions to be brought here by them for the week beginning May 8th, 1922, with the understanding the attractions or exihibitions be of a clean class and moral nature , and the Board decide to request the Common Council to waive all licenses for their benefit during said week. Geo . R. Gause,Florist was granted permission to remove the top soil from West Main Street west of 8th Street . Thursday arch 9th , 1922 . 23 i A petition signed by Edwin H. Campfield et-al , for installation of an Ornamental Lighting System on South 7th Street between Main & South "A" Street, to be erected, installed and operated under and pursuant to an Act of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, entitled, "An Act providing for the operation and 1/ maintenance of the same , creating a lien upon real estate , repeal- ing all laws and parts of laws in conflict herewith and declaring emergency, 2 Approved March 10th , 1915, petition presented and re- ferred to City Engineer and D.C .Hess, of M.E.L.E: P.P. The Clerk , reported that the Judge of the Wayne County Circuit Court had appointed Wayne Mull, L . N. Cox & F. Scott Webb, appraisers to appraise Ford or "Trouble Car , " of City Light Plant. Upon the recommendation of Fire Chief E.E.Miller, the ,Board on mot- ion of Mr. Henley , awarded the contract for Fire Chief Automobile to the Geo . I _ Davis Motor Car Company, at the price named in bid therefoe ( 1375 .00 net . ) on March 2nd , 1922. Commercial Mngr . D.C .Hess of M.E.L.& P.P. was instructed to have the City Streets Lights turned on and off under what is known as the Philadelphia Moon-Light Achedule .
