Thursday February 16th , 1922:. •
The Board of Public Works of the City, of -Richmond , Indiana , met`
regular session in the office of said Board Thursday February 16th ,
922, 'at 9 o' clock A. ;:i. All the member:, of said Board , Messrs ,
. Land , McFai1 & Henley , being present . The fo11owing proceedings
were had, to- wit
The Board a3proved the bill of the National Valve Co. on their. pip-
ing, contract of M.E..: .& P.P. in the sum of 36715 .00; and ordered ,-
same paid.
The Board received bid from G.C.Winders', Cambridge -City, Indiana,
as follows, to-wit : -
To clean ,paint and nail down there• necessary ,all iron work on tower
of ci.ty bldg . and paint the same with (2_) coats of Duponts Pearl
Gray paint . Clean fence around tower & one running north from it
& paint same wi th ( 2) coats Barre tt s 'Ever Jet Elastic Pai nt ; and
w, 11 al so remove weather vane from top of to wer , all of ab ove will
tree to' do in a first class workmanlike manner for the sum of
Seventy '(, 70 .00) Dollars
Cleaning & painting stack at Creni tory
with one coat Dixons Graphite paint , Twenty (j20 .00)Dollara•
The Clerk was 'instructed to notify said G. C. Winder , if he would
agree as speci fled in his bid, to clean & rai nt fence running north
& south from tower & cap the opening after removing weather van,
the Board would award him contract for said work at pri ce of 5 70.00.

Mr. Henley , moved that the order of the Board of Publ is Works , in
matter- of ernploy`rnent of City Attorney -,I.H..Le ley, in •matter . of City,
of Richmond vs . , .P -Dillon, be amended to read as follows , viz : --
That City Attorney Wm. H.' Kelley, be employed and empowered to en1-

Dillon, former Superintendent of said plant , seconded by Mr , '
motion unanimously prevailed. . .
The Board instructed Mr. . C. WVeldon_,Step' t.Pro duction Light Plant,
to order the Price Coal Co. to ship •two ( 2) cars of coal per day
from now on unti 1 Apri 1 1 , 1922.
Mr. coulter, appeared before the Board requesting permission to
garden the north side of Chestnut Street`, from 5th St. west,
Mr.' i,eFail , moved that the ci ty in renti ng • vacant places , for , ard-
ening, purposes, charge 50 per 100 square foot , moti on pre vai led.
Pur su ant to motion o f Board Thursday Feb . 2nd , 1922, the Board
met to award contracts for the various improvements for which bids
had been rece i ti ed bn said "date . The Cie rlia. rleportTA that no petition
on any of said. streets other than cement;' } 1chV r d been designated
by ;said Board ; the Board now decide that said various streets , be •
• improved by paving wi th concrete as follows , to-wit :

Re so lut',on No. 610-1921 , and South 3rd & North 3rd, from South
"A" to North "D" Str cot , Improvement he soluti on No. 611-1921;
and South 5th Street , from South "A" to South "E" Street , under
Improvement Resolution No. 612 -19 ; be improved with co..j.o re te
roadway in accordance with the plans & specifi cations hereto fore
adopted under said above Numbered Improvement Re s oluti ns , and
the .8 oart.9. now awards contracts on all of the above named streets
to the Hiatt Construction Co. of Elwood_ Indiana , -under the hide ,
received fur said improvements on February 2nd ,' 1922 , and fix
the date of August 15th ; 1922 , when same shall be completed ;
Also that said Hiatt Constructi en Co. shall begin work on South
5th Street on or before March 7 5th , 19 22 . arid shall al so :fur ni 211
the Board with a certifi edte from the Industrial Board o f Indiana
to the effect that he has complied_ wi Section No. 68 , of the
Thai ana liorkmen T a C ompen sati on Act.
The Board now confirm their original pre 1 imina,ry order , designating
that said Peacock Road be improved by pS.v ing the same v;i th Concrete ,
from Northwest 5th Street to Northwest 8th Street , in accordance
th the plans & ape ci fi Ca tiO no hereto fore adopted under Improvement
Resolution No. G13-1921. The Board now award the contract for the
improvement of Peacock Road under said Improvement Resolution No.
61.7;-1921 , to E. M. Curtis , of Muncie , Indiana, fixing the date of
August 15 th , 1922, when said improvement sha 11 be completed,.
Claims to the amount of ;300.00 were allowed.
The Board granted Mrs . Chas. Fish , to garden Lot #6, back of No.
17 Bridge Ave , the season 1922, . upon payment of $6.001 same to be
paid before planting.
The Board then adjourned ,
