HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution No. 23-124 ICM to identify funding to re-establish Chamber of CommerceSponsored by: Mayor Taylor RESOLUTION NO. 23-124 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, AUTHORIZING THE INTERIM CITY MANAGER TO IDENTIFY FUNDING FOR THE RE- ESTABLISHMENT OF THE CITY'S CHAMBER OF COMMERCE; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Opa-Locka ("City") is seeking to re-establish its Chamber of Commerce (the "Chamber"); and WHEREAS, the intent behind re-establishing the Chamber is to develop long-standing relationships and engage with leaders of the business community and non- profit organizations; and WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce shall serve as a forum to assist with the City's overall economic growth and provide opportunities for new and future businesses within the City; and WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined that authorizing the Interim City Manager to identify funding for the re-establishment of the City's Chamber of Commerce, is in the best interest of the City. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. RECITALS ADOPTED. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. SECTION 2. AUTHORIZATION The City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka hereby authorizes the Interim City Manager to identify funding for the re-establishment of the City's Chamber of Commerce. SECTION 3. SCRIVENER'S ERRORS. Sections of this Resolution may be renumbered or re -lettered and corrections of typographical errors, which do not affect the intent of this Resolution may be authorized by the Interim City Manager, following review by the City Attorney, without need of public hearing, by filing a corrected copy of same with the City Clerk. The intent is to develop long- standing relationships and engage with leaders of the business community and non-profit organizations. The Chamber of Commerce shall serve as a forum to assist with the City's overall economic growth and provide opportunities for new and future businesses within the City. Financial Impact - Funding to develop this program has been addressed in the FY 24 Proposed Budget, Community Development, Other Contract Services (37-515340) with a budget of $50,000. Proposed Action Staff recommends that the City Commission authorize the Interim City Manager to identify funding for the re- establishment of the City's Chamber of Commerce. Attache lent: 1
