The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met in regular session in the office_ of said Board ,Thur.sday January 12th, 1922, at 9 o' clock A.M. All the members of said Board, Messrs ,Land Henley & McFall, being present , the following proceedings were had, to-wit :- On motion zlAct,:, the minutes of preceeding meeting were approved wi tliout reading . The Board met to hear remonstrances if any, of persons primarily assessed on account of the opening and laying out of Southwest 1st Street , from the National Road to Southwest "E" Street, under De- claratory Resolution No. 154-1921, After hearing all persons inter- ested. and whose property is .assessed,the Board decides that they are not fully informed in the premises, and authorize the remon- strating property owners present to select two of their number pre- sent, also Mr. Marsh to select one person to go thoroughly over the ground with them, and thereupon the Board continue final action on said resolution to Jan-. 26th , 1922, the property owners selected Messrs , Elver E. Cartwright & Louis Smithmeyer, and Mr. Marsh,sel- ected Mr. John Schallanberger, as such committee to assist the Board in fixing proper valuations . Mr. Polter, requested permission to garden in Chestnut Street,w st of N.W.5th Street , action on said request was deferred to a future day. • • The Board continued hearing on the Improvement of the Alley, between North "F" St. & P.C.C.& St.1Ry: to February 9th , 1922. Z/Lf--/ / Permission was granted the Standard Oil Co. to construct a private driveway across the sidewalk on North "F" St. . between 11th & 12th St City Attorney, reported that he had notified the St.Car Co.. also the C.& O.Ry.Co. regarding the matters referred to him, as to water spou under the viaduct 1st & Main, and condition of Main Streetalong . Street car tracks , City Atty. also reported that the contractor was liable for any damage to property caused by carlessness or neglect on his part. The Mayor reported, that Mr.W.Reller complained to him in matter of moving Electric Light fromin front of his residence , also that persons where requesting electrin lights be placed at South 23, & "A" St. also S. 23rd & "E" St. Mr. Land suggested that these pethi ti_ons be deferred until such time as the city has had a chance to go over the lines as some lines would probably have to be revamped.
