**********
Mr. Miller Showed the committee a sketch of the proposed 12'
high elk statue proposed for the park. This work would be
completed at no cost to the city and placed in the park at the
city's direction. The artist is Dennis Jones of Joseph, Oregon.
After discussion, Allen moved to recommend to the City Council
that the sketch of the work be approved, that the city endorse
this effort, that Mr. Miller make a presentation to the City
Council to advise them of the effort. Grote seconded, and the
motion carried. The discussion identified that all donations
will be made payable to the city, held in a trust account and
that no city funds would be used for the sculpture, the base,
landscaping or interpretative plaques. Mr. Miller agreed to
meet with the Council on December 12, 1991.
II. STATUS REPORTS
The status of the Lakefront Park construction was noted. The
administrator advised that the city agreed to relocate the State
Snow Sculpturing competition to the park several years ago. The
completion of the rest rooms will permit this use this year and
the committee concurred that this should be done. The rest
rooms completion will be the last work accomplished this season.
Sprinklers, lawn, paving, and landscaping are the remaining work
items for next spring.
