STATUE IN LAKEFRONT PARK Boyd Miller Bud Schmidt Kathy Miller ********** Mr. Miller Showed the committee a sketch of the proposed 12' high elk statue proposed for the park. This work would be completed at no cost to the city and placed in the park at the city's direction. The artist is Dennis Jones of Joseph, Oregon. After discussion, Allen moved to recommend to the City Council that the sketch of the work be approved, that the city endorse this effort, that Mr. Miller make a presentation to the City Council to advise them of the effort. Grote seconded, and the motion carried. The discussion identified that all donations will be made payable to the city, held in a trust account and that no city funds would be used for the sculpture, the base, landscaping or interpretative plaques. Mr. Miller agreed to meet with the Council on December 12, 1991. II. STATUS REPORTS The status of the Lakefront Park construction was noted. The administrator advised that the city agreed to relocate the State Snow Sculpturing competition to the park several years ago. The completion of the rest rooms will permit this use this year and the committee concurred that this should be done. The rest rooms completion will be the last work accomplished this season. Sprinklers, lawn, paving, and landscaping are the remaining work items for next spring. Staff announced that the Chitwood parcel $26,000, and that discussions with the school on that portion of the route. The status of the golf clubhouse and other and the committee determined to review its was purchased for district continued property was noted master plan at the January 1992 meeting to update and revise the document. The committee also asked to meet with Don Belts at that meeting to further review the park design. III. FINANCIAL REPORT: The attached report was review and outstanding bills were noted. IV. USFS LAND: Staff reported on the possible uses of the two properties. The committee determined to review both properties as a part of the master plan review noted in item II, above. V. RECREATION REPORTS: Mr. Baker was ill and unable to attend to report. VI. ICE SKATING: ********** The committee discussed possible locations including the lakefront park, the golf clubhouse, and others. After discussion, Grote moved that the committee recommend that the City Council direct staff to investigate sites and attempt to provide a public ice-skating rink for the 1991-1992 winter season. Allen seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
