Short Title:
A resolution of the City Commission ratifying the purchase of two submersible pumps for Pump Station #1
Staff Summary:
Pump Station No. 1 suffered catastrophic pump failure to both submersible pumps due to a lightning strike.
Emergency procurement was deemed necessary since the location of the station does not allow for continuous
operation of a bypass pump. The pumps were procured from Hydra Service, Inc. the sole source provider for
this replacement equipment, at a cost of $43,156.00.
Financial Impact: The pumps were charged to the Sewer Division, Machinery & Equipment (35-535640). Since
this account had insufficient funds at the time of the emergency procurement, the State authorized the City to
exceed the budget with the understanding that funding would be provided as part of Budget Amendment #5.
Proposed Action:
Staff recommends the City Commission ratify the emergency procurement of two submersible pumps for
pump station No. 1,
