Sept. 19, 1921 . - The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular -session in the office of Bald Board Monday, September - 19, 1921, at 9 A.M. All the members of the said Board being pre- - sent Messrs. von Pein, Price, and Feltz the following proceedings were had to-wit: - ) The Engineer reported the completion of the contract under Im- provement Resolution No. 603-1921 for the improvement of the 1st al ley- east of South 8th Street- running north & south from South `"H" to South "J" Street ; by constructing a cena-t roadway in said alley the full width thereof. The Board accepted same and ordered an assessment roll prepared.. The Board approved the Primary Assessment Roll. .in the matter of Improvement Resolution No. 604-1921 for the improvement of the alley between South llth & 12th Street ; by. constructing a cement roadway the full width of alley; from South "D" to South "E" St. The Board approved the Primary Assessment Roll in the matter of Improvement Resolution. No. 605-1921 for the improveme_t of the. - south side of South "F" Street ; by constructing a cement sidewalk ( 5' ft in width) from South 8th to South 9th Street-. The Board received a petition signed by Howard A. Dill and six others petitioning for the passage of a resoluti on providing for grading and paving Rieveston Road from South 18th to South 23rd Street with gravel according to specifications, which was refer- red to the City Engineer for plans. The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 606 - 1921 for the improvement of Reeveston Road from South 18th Street to South 23rd Street ; by grading and graveling the roadways as shown on the plans. The Board received from J. D. Lyon, Consulting Engineer, a writ- - ten recommendation, stating that he approved the National Valve as equal to the Crane Valve, and that the bid of ' the National Valve & Mfg. Co:. for the piping in connection with the installa- tion of the 5000 KW Turbine-Generator for the M.E.L. & P.P. of $11,786.00 be accepted,' and that the bids on item #2 be rejected and readvertised. Mr. Peitz moved that the bid of the National Valve & Mfg. Co. of $11,786.00 submitted September 12th , 1921 for the above mentioned piping be accepted, and the contract so awarded. Seconded by Mr. Price motion prevailed. The Clerk was instructed to return. to L. C. Harrison the certified check of $100.00 submitted July 21, 1921, with Geo. E. Daugherty & A. J. Davis' bid for the painting of the Doran and .North 10th Street Bridge. . Upon the request of Mr. Dillon, Supt. of the Light Plant , the City Atty. was instructed to prepare an ordinance to present to Council for the following transfers of various accounts for the M.P.Z. & P.P. : Monday, September 19 , 1921. 1 .55 From Roof Acct. to Miscellaneous * 280.29 " Ash Conveyor Acct to Miscellaneous 73.45 "- Meter Acct. to Office Expense 200.00 " Wire to Pay Roll 5,000.00 " Transformer Acct. to Pay Roll • 5,000.00 " Meter Acct. to Pay Roll 1,000.00 " Repair Acct. to Pay Roll 5,500.00 Additional Appropriation to Pay Roll 5,000.00 Mr. Dillon presented a written statement in regard to the cause of the outage Saturday night September 17th . The plerk was in- structed to read this report to Council. _ The Board rejected all bids on Item #2 of the Specifications for - the piping for the 5000 KW Turbine-Generator at the Light Plant , submitted September 12th , 1921. • The Board then adjourned. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana., met in regular session in the office of said Board Thursday, September 22, 1921, •at 9: A.M.. TWO the members of the said Board being present Messrs. Price and Peltz ,, absent Mr. von Pein, the following pro- ceedings were had to-wit :- , - The Clerk presented the complaints from Council of Monday, Septem- ber 19th , 1921. The Board instructed E. E. Miller, Fire Chief, to attend the Fire- men' s Convention to be held October llth to 14th inclusive, 1921, in Atlanta; Ga. , and the City will pay his expenses. Adelaide & Alice Kearns appeared before1the Board in regard to the narrowing of South 17th St. 15' ft on the east side, south of South "E" Street in the Dilks Add. , which question was taken under con- sideration. The City Atty. was instructed to write John Mueller that he had been ordered to take Legal Action against him in regard to the removal of his brick barn from the alley bet. S. 17th & 18th Streets, and that the Board had extended the time in which he was to do so, a week.
