The Board of Public Works of the City of R'_crmord, Indiana, met in regular session in the office of said Board Thursday , June 2 , 1921, at 9 A.M. All the members of the sai d Board being present Messrs. _ von Fein, Taylor, and Peitz the folloWi_ng proceedings were had to-- The Board ordered six ( 6 ) City Directories of the R. L. Polk Co. at 7.00 per copy, subject to 60 days approval after delivery. The Board received the application of the Richmond City Water Wks. filed before the Public Service Commission of Indiana, in the mat- ter of the application for authority to amend rules as heretofore approved in regard to "Service Connections" ! which was referred to the City Atty. The Board approved the petition cf C . Westerkamp for permission to - cut the curb for an 8' ft driveway in front of real estate #132 Liberty Ave. The Board riet to hear remonstrances if any of persons primarily ass- essed on account of the vacation of the alley north of lot 1, and east cf lot #2 to 11 inclusive, and south ' of lot #11 ; also the va- cation of the principal art of NW. 4th St. all in Vm. Griffin' s Add. under Declaratory Resolution #150-1921. No one remonstrating the Board approved the Final Assessment Roll of Benefits & .Damages confirming in all things the original assessmet roll heretofore ap- proved, and thereupon declared said alleys and principal portion of NW. 4th St . as desi .hated above vacated, and now direct that a copy of said assessment roll be forthwith transmitted to the Dept. of Finance. The Board approved the Primary Assessment _Roll in the matter of Improvement Resolution #585-1921 for the construction of a cement roadway in the alley between West Lain & Kinsey St. from hest 2nd to West 3rd Street. 1,20 Thursday , June 2, 1921. • The Board ai .roved and signed the Contract & Bond. of Daniel G. Burkhardt, Contractor under .Improvement Resolution #597 - 1921. The City Civil Engineer reported the completion of the contract under Improvement Resolution #598-1921 for the construction of a Storm Water Sewer on Hunt Street from Linden Ave. to let alley north ; also the construction of a Storm Water Serer on Ridge St . from Charles St . to lot .alley south Which the Board accepted. Lincoln Streets from West 2nd to West 3rd Street. The Board accepted same and ordered an assessment roll prepared. The Board met to hear all persons interested in or whose property is affected -by the corrotruotion of a ceme:rrt -roadway--:in the alley 1st south of Natl. Road from SW. 2nd to SW. 3rd St. under Improve-- mert Re of u.ti on 601--19 21. After heari us e 11 persons who appear- ed and carefully considering remonstrance, filed signed by Ben. Bentley, Supt . of Schools , appeared before the• Board in regard to the School Children parading from North "A" &• 6th Street east - on North "A" to 10th St. , south on 10th St. to Main St. , east on -Main to Glen Miller Park for an all day picnic on June 15th , and asking permission to hold up the traffic from 8 to 8 :30 A.M. on North "A" St. from 6th to llth_ Sts. The Board granted Mr. Bentley permission to have traffi c suspended as requested. The Board received Petition of Levi C. Peacock, School City of Richmond et al to change Iodation of highway theretofore E: hereto- fore located and established" in regard to safer ingress & egress and better approach to the property of the School City at D. vu. Dennis Junior High School. Mr. Pe_ tz moved to refer'said petition to the City Engineer to take up with Lir. Jessup, School Board Atty. , -the question of the 200' ft radius. Seconded by Mr. Ta7lor so or- dered. Mr. 4:m. Bailey of the Ri chreonclHome Telephone Co. appeared before - the Board wanting co-operation of the Police Dept. in regard to a burglar alarm system to 'be installed in banks and business houses which .met with the approval of the Board who instructed him to take the matter up with the Police Commissioners. • The Board received bids for an automobile chassis for the Engineer • - ing Dept . as follows to-wit : - . Detroit 455.00 War Tax 12.07 Freight & Delivery -- 35.09 This chassis to be equipped with four (4) 30x3 Dayton Cord tires for - 52.00 additional and re to reserve the four (4) 30x3 _ regular equipped casings. We hereby agree to in- I/ stall on said chassis running board supports, bet- ter known as road scrapers to strengthen running boards for the sum of 2.50 We to install two ( 2) rear commercial fenders for the sum of 9 11.00 It is further eed that v;e are to remove roadster body from the old chassis and install same on new chassis. One set Gabriel Snubbers installed for -®- 18.50 586.16 We will allow you Sixty.-five Dollars on price of new ' car for the 1914 chassis - 5 65.00 Total --- 4? 521.16 The Board took the above bid under consideration. - The Board received bids for the painting of four (4) fooms and a hall at the Detention Hospital as follows: Jas. S. Logan bid 9-155.30 Chas. E. Bell bid 130.00 Mr. Feltz-moved-that the bid cf Chas . .-E. Bell be accepted and the contract --so awarded. Seconded by Mr. Taylor sc ordered. The Los;rd--instructed the City .tty. to prepare an ordinance for an appropriation of 521.16 for an automobile chassis for the Engineer-- ing Dept. ; also for an appropriation for 0427 .50 for an electric Adding-Machine for -the - office ,of the Engineering Dert. - -- The Board 'then adjourned.
