ment, and that the failure of said John Duke to sign. snob bid and'
check accompanying the same was due to a mistake and oversight or
the part of such bidder, and that it was his intent to make a bona
fide bid in good faith for such contract. It is therefore ordered
' by the Board that the proposal of said John Duke be accepted, and
_ the contract so awarded , provided he will sign such proposal and
check, and will now enter into a bond, subject to the approval of
this Board, for the faithful performance of. said work in full con-
forrlity to the speci fications for the sane as prepared by said City.
Bills to the amount of 022,918.73 were allowed.
The Board approved the various pay rolls up to May 16th, 1921.

regular session in the office of said Board Thursday; May 26, 1921
at 9 A.M. ALL J e members of the said Board being present Messrs.
von Pein, Taylor, and Peitz the following proceedings were had to-
wit : -
The Board received the application of the Liberty Light &; Power Co.
filed before the Public Service Commission of Indiana to provide for
interconnection with power lines and additional to connections with
Municipal Lighting F, Power Plant of City of Hid] mon_d. Which matter
was referred to the City Attorney.
The -Board approved and signed the Contract & Bond of Jchn 3. Duke,
contractor under Improvement Resolution ; 596.1921.
The Board received apetition signed by Marion Bolser & 4 others for
the passage of a resolution providing for gas mains to be laid on
Maple Street from Hunt St. to alley west of Ridge St. The Board
took same under advisement .
Harry Hodgin ap.-Jeare:_ before the Board and ir. .de a complaint of the
dirt in the alley at John Pinnick' s property on North 18th Street.
Referred to the Street Dept.
The Board received an invitation from J. H. Bentley, Supt . of Schools
inviting the City Government to be represented at the laying of the
corner stone of the David Worth Dennis School, on Friday, May 27th,
which was accepted and ordered placed on file .

The City Civil Engineer reported the completion of a contract
under Improvement ileso lution u 585-1021 for the improvement of the
alley between ';Vest Main & Kinsey Street by constructing a cen ea t
roadway in sal d alley from V[est 2nd.. to West 3rd Street, the
Board accepted same and ordered an assessment roll prepared.
The Board met tc hear and consider remonstrances if any of per-
sons primarily assessed in the matter of benefits & danages for
the widening of a porti on of the alley between South 17th & 18th
Streets running from South `Ar Street north to a point where said
alley intersects the alley running east to South 18th Street by
widening said alley 16' ft in width at a point where a brick barn I/
stands in alley located on Tract 497 Official Man of the City of
Richmond, Indiana. , under Declaratory 'Resolution L-148-1921. No
one appearing, but a written remonstrance having been filed sign-
ed by J. 7 . Crocker against being assessed any benefits against
his rrcperty. The Board after carefully considering the remonst-
rance and being da ly advised over ruled same and on motion of Mr.
Peitz , seconded by Mr. Taylor the Board approved the Final Assess-
ment Roll of Benefits & Damages, confirming in all things the
Original Assessment. Roll heretofore approved without modifi cation,
and declared said alley wi dened as described in said resolution,
and ordered said assessment roll transmitted forthwith to the
Dept. of Finance.
The Board received bids to improve the alley between Lincoln and
Randolph-Street-by constructing a cement roadway in -said alley
from west 1st to Test 2nd St. under Improvement Resolution `597-
1921 as follows:
Z. B. Pyle Co. bid:
Cement Roadway complete per square foot 0.29
Daniel G. Burkhardt bid :
Cement Roadway complete per square foot ,pO.26
Mr. Peitz moved that as Daniel G. Burkhardt' s bid was the lowest
and r-;ithin the City Engineer' s estimate that it be accepted and
the contract so awarded. Seconded by Mr. Taylor so ordered.
The Board received bids for 300' ft more or less of hose for Street
& Sewer Departmet use , as follows:
New York Belting & Packing Co. bid:
Three hundred ( 300) feet , more or less, two ( 2) inch threeply
Municipal Service Hose. The out side sover of this hose is to be
of our extra quality, wear resisting rubber. Per foot , (85)
eihty five cents.
T< o inch ( 2) expansion Ring Couplings , without lugs-but pro-
vided with spanner holes-so as not to catch on obstruct ionsper
set complete, attached to hose and provided 'with gaskets-(03.00) I/
Three dollars per set complete.
One ( 1) 22" X 2" Reducer to fit your hydra?nits, . free.
Two ( 2) 2" Spanners, to fit holes in couplings, free.
There being only one bid received the Board took same under ad-
visement.

that the Board adjourn to meet Thursday- , June 2nd. Seconded by
Mr. Taylor motion •prevailed.

The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in
regular session in the office of said Board Thursday , June 2, 1921,

The Board ordered six ( 6 ) City Directories of the R. L. Polk Co. at
07.00 per copy, subject to 60 days approval after delivery.
• The Board received the application of the Richmond City Water Wks.
filed before the Public Service Commission of Indiana, in the mat-
t ter of the application for authority to amend rules as heretofore
• approved in regard to "Service Connections" 3 which was referred to
the City Atty.
• The Board approved the petition cf C. Westerkamp for permission to
- cut the curb for an 8' ft driveway in front of real estate #132
Liberty Ave.
The Board met to hear remonstrances if any of persons primarily ass-
essed on account of the vacation of the alley north of lot 1, and
east of lot #2 to 11 inclusive, and south of lot #11 ; also the va--
cation of the Principal part of NW. 4th St. all in Wm. Griffin' s
Add. under Declaratory Resolution #150--1921. No one remonstrating
the Board approved the Final Assessment Roll of Benefits & Damages
confirming in all things the original assessmet roll heretofore ap-
proved, and thereupon declared said alleys and principal portion of
NW. 4th St . as des iF mated above vacated, and now direct that a copy
of said assessment roll be forthv;i th transmitted to the Dept. of
Finance.
The Board approved the Primary Assessment _Roll in the matter of
Improvement Resolution #585--1921 for the construction of a cement
roadway in the alley between West Lain & Kinsey St. from West and to
West 3rd Street.
