May 2,. 1921. _ • The Board `of_Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indi tea, met in regular session in the office of said Board Monday- , May 2, 1921 at, 9 A.M. All the members of the said Board being present Messrs. von Pein, Taylor, and Peitz the following proceedings were had to- wit :- The Board_approved and sighed the_ contract for the lease of lots 5 : 6 Price & Ferguson' s Addition at the corner- of 17th .& Main Sts. of Omar G. Murray for market purposes from May 1st ,1921, to Dec. 31st, 1921, for the sum of $50.00 as rent thereof. The Board_approved_and signed the Contract & Bond of John S. Duke, contractor under Improvement Resolution 598-1921. Pursuant to 'postponement- to_this date, the Board tpok_u.p Improvement Resolution_#595-1921 for the construction of a cement roadway in thf 1st alley_running_east_and west , south of the National Road, from SW. 2nd to SW. 3rd Street ; also in the alley running north & south between SW.® 2nd_&_SW._ 3rd Stre-ets_from the 1st alley south of the Natl. Road_to SW. .°?E" Street against which a remonstrance had been filed. The City Engineer reported that there are 41 resident pro- perty owners and that 26 residen t property owners had remonstrat- ed against said improvement; therefore Mr. Peitz moved that all previcus action on 'said resolution be recinded. Seconded by Mr. Taylor motion prevailed. The Board received a communication signed by J. H. Bentley, Supt. - of Schools, in regard to the placing- of School Zone Signs, which was ordered placed on file until further order of the Board. James P. Dillon, Supt. of the Li4t Plant, asked for additional appropriations from the funds of the Municipal Electric Lighting & Power Plant as follows : Repairs - $10,000.00; Sundry Equipment - $5,000.00 ; Miscellaneous - $5,000.00. The City Atty. was instruct ed- to prepare and ordinance to present to Council for the above appropriations. , The Board received bids for the construction of a: cement roadway in the alley between West Kinsey & West Pearl Streets from West 1st to West 3rd Street under Improvement Resolution #591-1921 as fol- lows: Daniel G. Burkhardt bid: • Cement roadway complete per square foot - $0.28 Mr. Peitz moved that as only one hid was received and it being' with in the City Engineer' s estimate that it be accepted and the Contract 11/ awarded Daniel G. Burkhardt. Seconded ' by Mr. Taylor motion pre- vailed. The Board received bids for a One Ton Capacity Motor Truck Chasis with cab, for the. Street Dept. , as follows to-wit :- , 0 1 8 0 Monday, May 2nd, 1921. Webb-Coleman Company bid: • Ford one (1) ton truck 545.00 VTar Tax 14.31 Freight 35.09 Total 594.40 This can be supplied with either solid or phneumatic tires. Gab style 'D" , Wayne Works 0 65®00 Plus War Tax 3.99 Total for. Cab 68.99 I/ We will allow you for. 1917 Ford Roadster with slip on body one hundred 'eighty dollars ? 180.00 Ford One ( 1) Ton Truck, F 0 B Detroit , 52 545.00 War Tax 14.31 Freight - 35.09 Total 594.40 With #332 one unit pattern, Chicago style, Wayne • Works body with fenders - 0 165.00 Plus War Tax • 6.99 171.99 Mr. Peitz moved that the bid of Webb-Coleman Company for Ford One Ton Truck, F.O.B. Detroit of 3.594.40 with a #332 One unit pattern, Chicago style , Wayne Works body with fenders at 171.9.9 Total 0766.39 less War Tax of 021.30 & ,. 180.00 allowed for St. Commissioner' s old 1917 Ford Roadster amounting to 0201.30 mak- ing the total cost 0565.09 be accepted and. the contract so award- ed.
