RESOLUTION NO. 23-146
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA APPROVING EXPENDITURES RELATED
TO SPECIAL EVENTS HOSTED BY CITY COMMISSIONER
JOSEPH L. KELLEY FOR THE REMAINDER OF FISCAL YEAR 2022-
2023; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Opa-Locka budgets for each Commissioner to receive a set
amount for the purpose of hosting special events each fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, special events enhance the quality of life for residents, visitors, and
fosters good relations throughout the community; and
WHEREAS, City Commissioner Joseph L. Kelley desires to have the City
Commission approve all expenditures for special events up to the City Commission
approved budgeted amount for commissioners for the remainder of the 2022-2023 fiscal
year, as set forth in Exhibit "A"; and
WHEREAS, expenditures requested for approval include, in an amount not to
exceed: Eight Hundred Fifty Dollars ($850.00) for Government Week with Nathan and
Robert Ingram Elementary Schools; Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00) for Faith -Based
Fellowship in the community; One Thousand, Fifty Dollars ($1,050.00) for Community
Domino Tournament & Food Fest and Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00) for the Vice -Mayor
Johnson Street naming; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined that it is in the best interest of
the City and its residents to approve expenditures related to Commissioner Kelley's
hosted events.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. RECITALS ADOPTED.
The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
SECTION 2. AUTHORIZATION
The City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka hereby authorizes and approves
expenditures related to special events hosted by Commissioner Joseph L. Kelley
for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2022-2023, as set forth herein.

SECTION 3. SCRIVENER'S ERRORS.
Sections of this Resolution may be renumbered or re -lettered and corrections of
typographical errors, which do not affect the intent of this Resolution as may be
authorized by the Interim City Manager, following review by the City Attorney,
without need of public hearing, by filing a corrected copy of same with the City
Clerk.
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE
This Resolution shall take effect upon the adoption and is subject to the approval
of the Governor or Governor's Designee.
