A RESOLUTION BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD SUPPORTING THE DUPAGE RIVER SWEEP TO
BE HELD ON JUNE 3, 2000.
WHEREAS, the Village of Plainfield recognizes ongoing stream cleaning as
essential for the preservation of the DuPage River; and,
WHEREAS, removing debris from the DuPage and along its bank makes the river
more attractive, improves water quality and stream ecosystems, helps improve water
flaw, removes potential hazards for fish and wildlife; and,
WHEREAS, stream. cleaning efforts have been proven to be highly successful in
other communities such as an the Upper DuPage River; and,
WHEREAS, the DuPage River is an important part of our community and has
played a major role in the settlement and history of the Village of Plainfield; and,
WHEREAS, the DuPage River is an integral part of Plainfield's downtown and a
focal point now and in the future; and,
WHEREAS, the Village Board has supported the DuPage River Trail which is
part of a regional trail network that will bring people into Plainfield along the DuPage
River and as an entrance to the community it should reflect a positive image of the
Village; and,
a
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED SY THE PRESIDENT AND
BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD, WILL COUNTY,
ILLINOIS, that it hereby supports the DuPage River Sweep. Be it further resolved,that
all residents of the Village of Plainfield be encouraged to become educated. about the
environmental importance of clean streams, and to support and participate in the DuPage
River Sweep, to take place on June 3, 2000. +_
