A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE FORMATION AND FUNDING OF THE
I-55 CORRIDOR PLANNING COUNCIL (CPC)
WHEREAS, the I-55 Corridor area within Will County is experiencing rapid growth and
development that has caused serious traffic congestion and issues of inadequate access;
and
WHEREAS, the growth and development have also produced positive benefits for the
State of Illinois and local governments, they have also created a need for improvement of
what is currently an inadequate I-55 corridor transportation system; and
WHEREAS, the traffic congestion and access issues are among the immediate and
critical needs identified for I-SS and the arterial network in the I-55 corridor; and
WHEREAS, interested communities are forming the I-55 Corridor Planning Council
(CPC) to participate in an intergovernmental planning process between local
governments in the I-55 Corridor Area; and
WHEREAS, the I-55 CPC members will initiate a study of the Corridor area to examine
issues including, but not limited to, right-of way preservation, increased capacity, noise
abatement, and critical access points.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Village of Plainfield does hereby
endorse the formation of the I-55 Corridor Planning Council and supports efforts to seek
funding for the study and planning of the I-55 Corridor.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be distributed to the Will
County Governmental League for forwarding to appropriate legislators, the Illinois
Department of Transportation and members of the I-55 CPC.

I-55 Corridor Planning Council
Statement of Purpose .
The purpose of the I-55 Corridor Planning Council shall be to provide a forum
where its individual members ran participate in an intergovernmental process by
which transportation improvement strategies can be identified for the I.55
Corridor area.
1't is the intent of those municipalities, counties, associations, governmental units,
and district representatives, working together in this coordinated and cooperative
effort to increase the effectiveness of the transportation system in the I-55
Corridor area. Through mutual coordination, the CPC intends to initiate a study
of tkre Corridor area that addresses issues ofright-of--way preservation, improved
access, and increased capacity through municipal, regional and state resources.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BOLINGBROOK, WILL AND DU PAGE COUNTIES,
ILLINOIS, ~S FOLLOWS:
SECT ON ONE: The Village of Bolingbrook does hereby endorse the formation ofthe I-55
Corridor Planning Council and supports efforts to seek funding for the study and planning ofthe I-55
Corridor.

SECTION TWO: The Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to transmit a copy of
this resolution to the Will County Governmental League for forwarding to appropriate legislators,
the Illinois Department of Transportation and members of the I-SS CPC.
SECTION THREE: This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
and approval in the manner provided by law.
