Dec. 7 , 1920. • Pursuant to adjournment the Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board Tuesday, December 7, 1920 , at 9 o' clock A.M. All members of said Board were present, namely Matt. von Pein, T. C. Taylor, and John E. Peltz, there also being present Mayor W. W. Zimmerman , City Atty. , W. W. Keller, and J. D. Lyon,Consulting Engineer. John E. Peltz member of said Board made the following motion: I move that the City accept the bid of the Westinghouse Elec- I/ tric & Manufacturing Company in which, in accordance with pro- posal "B" of said City' s specifications the Westinghouse Elec- tric & Manufacturing Co. proposes for the sum of One Hundred Forty-three Thousand Seven Hundred Eight (0143,708.00) Dollars to furnish delivered and erected on foundations_ built by City ready for wire and pipe connections the following apparatus: - One (1) - 5000 K.W. 6250 KVA, 80% power factor, 3 phase, 60 cycle, 2300 volt Turbine Unit. One ( 1) - 75 K.W. Induction Motor Generator_Set. One (1) - Switchboard. One (1) - 10,000 Sq. Ft. Surface Condenser. Two ( 2) - Circulating Pumps; each. of 1/2 capacity, One motor driven and one turbine driven. One. ( 1) - Air Pump with motor drive. One (1) - Air Ejector. One (1) Condensate Fump with motor drive. One (1) - Condensate Pump with turbine drive. Eight (8) - Thermometers. One ( 1) - Two pen Recording Thermometer. One ( 1) - Bailey Steam Flow Meter. One ( 1) - Atmospheric Relief Valve'. Two ( 2) - Copper Expansion Joints, together with proper exhaust fittings for. connecting turbine to condenser. Said mo- tion was properly seconded and unanimously adopted and passed by said Board. Thereupon said Board members executed a written contract in duplicate with said Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Co. conditioned however upon said Company furnishing to the City a proper Bond with Surety to the approval of said Board insuring the faithful performance and completion Of said work according ' to the contract, one of which duplicate contract shall be plac- ed on file in the office of said Board. And the Board now returns to each unsuccessful bidder on said work his certified check which had accompanied his bid. On motion duly made, seconded, and unanimously passed the Board agreed to employ J. D. Lyon of Cincinnati , Ohio, to have engin- eering charge of the installation of the new turbine unit this day purchased from the. Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Co. - and to prepare plans and specifications for piping, wiring, and foundation for sai.d unit , and to work out a system for improving the economy and reliability of said plant , and a written Con- tract therefore was executed in duplicate, one copy of which is Tuesday, December 7 , 1920 . 47 now on file in the office of said Board. Dec. 9 , 1920. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana,. met in regular session in the office of said Board Thursday , December 9 , 1920 , at 9 A.M. All the members of the said Board being present Messrs. von Pein, Taylor, and Feltz the following proceedings were had to-wit :- The Board received from the Public Service Commission of Indiana a report of an examination of the records of the Richmond City Water Works of Richmond, Indiana, for the period ending October 31, 1920 , which was ordered placed on file . The, City Civil Engineer reported the completion of the contract under Improvement Resolution #581-1920. Mr. Peltz moved that it be accepted, and the Clerk ordered to prepare an assessment roll. Seconded by Mr. Taylor motion prevailed. Mr. Earl L. Carter, Asst. Chief Engineer of the Public Service Commission of Indiana, appeared before the Board in regard to the inspection of the Municipal Electric Lighting & Power Plant. The Board then adjourned.
