A RESOLUTION TEMPORARILY CLOSING A PORTION OF
U. S. ROUTE 30 IN THE VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD
FOR THE PURPOSE OF STRAWBERRY FEST
SATURDAY, MAY 30,1998 AT 6:00 A.M. THROUGH
SUNDAY, MAY 31,1998 '7:00 P.M.
WHEREAS, MainStreet Plainfield, Inc. desires to hold their Annual Strawberry Fest on a
portion of U. S. Route 30 between Route 59 west to Fax River Street on Saturday, May 30, 1998 at
6:00 a.m. through Sunday, May 31, 1998 7:00 p.m.; and,
WHEREAS, said Strawberry Fest will require the closing of Route 30 completely between the
east junction with Illinois Route 59 and the west junction with Fox River Street; and,
WHEREAS, said Strawberry Fest will require the detouring of traffic both east and
westbound on Lockport Street (U.S. Rt. 30); and,
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois requires the Village to assume all responsibility and liability
involved in the closing of said highway.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD, WILL COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AS
FOLLOWS:
The Village of Plainfield will provide supervision for the direction, protection and
regulation of traffic during the tune the detour is in effect occasioned by the closing of
said State Route, and usage of 143rd Street, a Will County jurisdiction road.
2. It is further agreed that efficient, all weather detours will be maintained conspicuously
rnazked and judiciously police patrolled far the benefit of traffic deviated fronn the State
Route.
The alternate route will be to continue Route 30 North on Route 59 to 143rd Street,
then west to Route 30. Detour signs will be posted for both northbound and
southbound traffic.
