- Mr. Peitz moved that the City Atty. be instructed to draw up a con-
-tract with Otto Rettig , as he agreed to pay the City 0200.00 for
filling up the old ice pond on North 12th St. Seconded by Mr. Tay-
' for motion prevailed.

The Board instructed the Clerk to advertise for bids for re-floor-
ing the Doran Bridge according to the specifications furnished by
the City Engineer.
The Board instructed the Fire Chief to purchase tires for his run-
about, and to appoint Harry Williams 2nd Assistant Chief.
The Board granted Mr. Dillon, Supt. of the Light Plant , a ten days
leave of absence.
The Board then adjourned.

The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in
regular session in the office of said Board Thursday , August 19th
1920, at 9 A.M. All the members of the said Board being present
Messrs. Von Pein, Taylor, and Peitz the following proceedings were
had to-wit :-
The Board met to hear all persons interested in or whose property
-is affected by the construction of a\cement roadway in the alley
between Lincoln & Pearl Sts. from West 1st to West 3rd St. under
Improvement Resolution #580-1920 . After hearing all persons who
appeared, and considering a letter written by J. A. Conkey, and no
remonstrance having been filled the Board decided that the benefits
to property liable to be assessed for said improvement are equal to
the cost of same as reported by the City Engineer, and thereupon tx
take final action on said Resolution, the same being confirmed with
out modification, and the Clerk was instructed to advertise for

bids.
The Board met to hear all persons interested in or whose property

between N. "D" & "E" Sts. from N. 22nd to N. 23rd St. under Impro-
vement Resolution #581-1920. After hearing all persons who appear-
ed. and considering a petition signed by I. A. Gorman, and no re-
monstrance having been filled the Board decided that the benefits
to property liable to be assessed for said improvement are equal

to the cost of same as reported by the City Engineer, and there-
upon take Final Action on said Resolution, the same being con-
- firmed without modification, and the Clerk was instructed to
advertise for bids.
Frank Strayer,a representative of the. Service Men of Wayne Co. ,
appeared before the Board asking for permission to hold a Bar-
becue in Glen Miller Park Sept. 6th, providing that they can
not obtain Jackson Park. The Board grin ted the request.
The Board granted Earlham College permission to swing a banner
across Main St. in the interest ,of the Endowment Drive; also
the Republican Committee to place a banner across S. 8th St.
The complaints from Council of Monday, August 16th , were re-
ferred to the Engineer and Street Dept.
The Board approved the Contract & Bond signed by D. O. Hodgin
as principal , and the United States Fidelity Guarantee Co. as
surety, in the matter of installing a Gasoline Tank infront of
his place of business 229 West Main Street.
The Boardinstructed the Clerk to notify F. E. Slick, Garbage
Contractor, to appear before the Board Monday, August 23rd, at
9 A.M.
The Board approved tnd allowed the following bills: The Barrett
Co. $117.41; C. & 0. .n. of Ind. $13.00; Smith-Osborn Coal
Sales Co. $2,900.05; Tiger Coal & Supply Co. $628.47.
The Board unanimously adopted a resolution for the re-flooring
of the Doran Bridge, providing for the taking up of the old
floor and timbers, and the relaying of new creosoted timbers &
wood-block floor, and instructed the Clerk to advertise for bids.
The Board instructed the Clerk to notify officials of the Street
Car Co. to have the street repaired a long their tracks at 5th &
Main ; also all along South 8th St tracks at once.-
The Board granted A. W. Gregg permission to lay under private
contract, and at his own expense , a ten inch sewer over and a-
cross his property infront of realstate #1 H. Sweicker' s Add.
on S. "J" St. , subject to the inspection and approval of the
City Engineer, 0
The Board then adjourned.
