ROUTE 30 AND ROUTE 59 IN THE VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE PLAINFIELD HOMECOMING PARADE TO BE HELD SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20,1997 WHEREAS, the Plainfield Consolidated School District #202 of the Village of Plainfield desires to hold their 46th Annual Homecoming Parade on U. S. Route 30 and Route 59 on Saturday, September 20, 1997. WHEREAS, said parade will require the closing of Route 30 either partially or completely between the west junction with Illinois Route 126 and the east junction with Illinois Route 59. WHEREAS, said parade will require the closing or stopping of traffic on southbound Route S9 between Commercial and Newkirk Streets (1 block). WHEREAS, the State of Illinois requires the Village to assume all responsibility and liability involved in the closing of said highway. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD, WILL COUNTY, II.,LINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: 1. The Village of Plainfield will assume full responsibility for the direction, protection and regulation of traffic during the time the detour is in effect, and all liabilities for the damages of any kind occasioned by the closing of said State Route. 2. It is further agreed that efficient, all weather detours will be maintained conspicuously marked and judiciously police patrolled for the benefit of traffic deviated from the State Route. Pla~nf~eld Police Department 1400 NORTH DIVISION STREET August 25, 1997 Mr. Daniel Ehart District Permit Engineer DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS/DISTRICT #1 201 West Center Court Schaumburg, IL 60196-1096 Re: Road Closure for Parade (U.S. Rt. 30/Illinois Rt. 126) Dear Mr. Ehart: PLAINFIELD, ILLINOIS fi0544 G~-- The Village of Plainfield would like to request a closure for Route 30 and the southbound lane of Route 59 at Newkirk, as the 47th Plainfield High School Homecoming Parade is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 1997, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The parade route will start at the high school, Ft. Beggs and James Streets, and process north to Lockport (U.S. 30), east on Lockport Street to Illinois, then south on Illinois to Commercial Street, and east on Commercial to Illinois Route 59, south on Route 59 to Newkirk, west on Newkirk to Pratt Lane, Pratt back to the high school. Route 30 (eastbound) traffic will be detoured onto Route 126, then east to Route 59, south on Route 59 to Routes 59/30 junction. Route 30 (westbound) traffic will be detoured north on Route 59 to Illinois 126, then west an Route 126 to Route 30. Route 59 (southbound) traffic will be detoured/stopped to allow parade entrants to leave Commercial and swing onto Newkirk. Route 59 (northbound) traffic will not be effected. We will place parade detour signs on all roads effected by the parade and physically have police officers manning these points to ensure positive directions for the motorist. The signed copies of the resolution and certification page will be sent to you after our Village Board Meeting on September 8, 1997.
