HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 1156RESOLUTION NO. 1156 A RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO GRANTING POWERS TO THE WILL COUNTY EMERGENCY 9-1-1 BOARD TO ESTABLISH GUIDELINES FOR STAFFING AND TRAINING NEEDS FOR INDIVIDUAL P.S.A.P. UNITS WHEREAS, WESCOM is the dispatching center for emergency vehicles for the Villages of Plainfield, Channahon, Shorewood, and the Cities of Crest Hill and Lockport, Illinois; and WHEREAS, WESCOM is also the dispatching center for emergency vehicles for the Village of Plainfield Fire Protection District, Village of Channahon Fire Protection District, Lockport Fire Protection District, Northwest Homer Fire Protection District and the Troy Fire Protection District; and WHEREAS, as a P.S.A.P. for 9-1-1 communications, WESCOM is responsible for providing the staff and training for said areas, and as such, is inherently familiar with the operational requirements necessary to meet the needs of the citizens of these villages; and WHEREAS, WESCOM, made up of representatives from the Villages of Plainfield, Channahon, Shorewood, and the Cities of Crest Hill and Lockport, Illinois; and the Village of Plainfield Fire Protection District, Village of Channahon Fire Protection District, Lockport Fire Protection District, Northwest Homer Fire Protection District and the Troy Fire Protection District is the governing board for that center, and as such, should be the agency responsible for determining the staffing and training needs for the dispatching staff of WESCOM. NOW, THEREFORE, be it is resolved by the President and Beard of Tr~;stees of the Village of Plainfield, Will County, Illinois, as follows: That the Village of Plainfield hereby goes on record in opposition to the proposal to grant powers to the Will County Emergency 9-1-1 Board for determining staffing and training needs of the individual P.S.A.P. units throughout Will County, Illinois. And further, that each individual P.S.A.P. Board should be made responsible to determine the staffing and training needs for their individual P.S.A.P. units based upon their intrinsic knowledge of the needs of their communications centers. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval as required by law. PASSED THIS 17 DAY OF ,,,February , 1997.
