Item: WWTP Sludge Digester Recommended Bidder: BRW Construction Company is the lowest responsible
bidder at$1,049,449. Project is over initial budgeted estimate of$770,000 due to recommended upgrades to
specifications to increase longevity of digester. Project will require financing the additional funds (nearly
$300,000) to complete project this fiscal year. Finance Director will provide financing options. Infrastructure
committee recommended approval 3-0. Specifications are included in packet.
Project Description: The digester project consists of the installation of a 500,000 gallon pre-stressed concrete
tank(65' diameter x 22' tall), three(3) 75-hp blowers in canopied building, diffused air array(piping and
membrane diffusers in bottom of tank), waste sludge pump, transfer sludge pump, miscellaneous valves, piping,
etc. The project will allow for the treatment(and reduction) of biosolids from the wastewater treatment process.
The project will significantly reduce biosolids management costs for the City.
