Driscoll, Town Manager Date: June 7, 2018 RE: Agenda Item – Acceptance of Gift of Tangible Personal Property ______________________________________________________________________ I am pleased to inform you that Stop & Shop, Pleasant Street has graciously donated refreshments for this years’ “Summer Concerts Series” starting on Thursday, June 28th. Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 44, Section 53A1/2, municipalities are authorized to accept gifts of tangible personal property with the approval of the Town Council. I respectfully request the attached Resolution accepting this gift of tangible personal property be placed on the June 12, 2018 Town Council Agenda for your consideration. Resolution # R – 2018 - Resolution Approving the Acceptance of Gift of Tangible Personal Property WHEREAS: From time to time, this community is the beneficiary of a gift donated towards improving the quality and spirit of its inhabitants lives; and, WHEREAS: The Town's free concerts series is in its 19th year and concerts will be held eight Thursday evenings beginning June 28th and ending August 16th, from 6:30 PM to 8 PM, Saltonstall Park; and, WHEREAS: This generous donation of refreshments was given to the 2018 Summer Concert Series, where families and guests will enjoy a variety of musical performances and refreshments; and WHERE: Stop & Shop, Pleasant Street graciously donated refreshments for the 2018 Summer Concerts Series; and, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Town Council of the City known as the Town of Watertown, hereby accepts, pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 44, Section 53A 1/2, a gift of tangible personal property generously donated by Stop & Shop, Pleasant Street. _________________________ Council Member I hereby certify that at a special meeting of the Town Council for which a quorum was present, the above resolution was adopted by a vote of ____for, ____against and ____present on June 12, 2018. ________________________ ______________________________ Council Clerk Mark Sideris, Council President
