HomeMy Public PortalAbout19260503CCMeeting" Town of Tybee,Ca.May 3rd 1926. 29 A regular meeting of Town Council was held to -day and was attended by Mayor Harris and `' ouncilmen Cann,Horovitz,Farr,Logan and mayor -elect Gamble. A petition from E.B.Izlar to erect an addition to his bath house extending 20 feet to the North and 18afeet to the East on the Strand was read, Mr Izlar was present and explained to Council what he pro- posed to do, the Mayor asked the pleasure of Council and Mr Cann made a motion that permission be given Mr Izlar,which was seconded by Mr Horovitz and passed unanamously. A petition was read from Johnson A.Byers requesting that Stone street at Estill Station be chmnged to Byers street, the matter was referred to the Streets and Lanes Committee with power to act. A petition was read from Mrs M=artha Schneider asking for a reduction in her liscense -- the matter w�s ref'ferred to the Police Committee. The Mayor said that as he was leaving office he would like to know what Councils attitude was regarding an audit of the books of the Town and Mr. Cann said that it ought to be done and made a motion that if the cost does not exceed $ 100.00 that the Clerk of Council be instructed to have the work done, this was seconded by Mr Horovitz and the moyion carried. Liscenses of Fortune Tellers or Palmists was increased to $100.00 per person, ';.he .a:=1,1-;.e = - ,t'ferrf;d, t ; the Foiir.e Committee ; t Lhis seesic,- Of ,. +, G`.Liittee in turn reported. as ;ein -; favorable o the S.A.Blackwell we employed as Engineer at th ePower Plant at a salary of $ 150.00 per month -- as it was necessary that certain work be done to the Power plant jtoget it in condition to operate for the coming season, the L'ayor appointed Messrs Logan and florovits a committee to look after this work. Mr Cann offered a resolution of thanks to the retiring Mayor Mr Logan seconded same and it was passed unuanaamously Mayor Harris accepted same with thanks and in turn thanked Council for the splendid co -op- eration given him during his tenure of office. After the adjournment of the old board, their terms of office having expired,the new Board elected April 7th 1926,as per report on page 23,were duly sworn in by Oliver T.Bacon,Comnissioner of Chatham County,Georgi3 as shown and subscribed on page 28.
