HomeMy Public PortalAbout11.04.74 VB MinutesPLAINFIELD VILLAGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING Regular Meeting DATE: November 4, 1974 AT: Village Hall MEMBERS OF BOARD PRESENT: Complete Board present President Pottorff opened the meeting at 7:30 p.m. with the Pledge to the Flag. Roll call was taken. All members of the Board were present. On motion by G. Ansley, the minutes of the previous meetings were approved as printed. Seconded by Z. Taylor. Motion carried. W. Rahn made a motion. to pay the current. invoices. Seconded by R. Selfridge. All ayes, no nays. Nation carried. President Pottorff announced the Police Board recommended to hire Melvin Lantz, part time officer, to full time to replace Officer Jerome Shlensky, who resigned November 1, 1974. W. Rahn made a motion to accept the recommendation and hire Mr. Lantz as full time Officer. Seconded by L. Taylor. Vote by roll call: Rahn, aye; Gehrke, abstain; Ansley, aye; L. Taylor, aye; G. Taylor, aye; Selfridge, aye. Motion caxried, The Plan Commission repart was read. G. Ansley made a motion to accept the report. Seconded by L. Taylar. Motion carried. H. Gehrke made a motion to accept the recommendation of the Plan Commission, to deny Wayne Overman, Petitioner, rezoning classification from I-1 to Res. A. for placement of a mobile home on his property. Seconded by W. Rahn. Vote by roll call: Rahn, aye; Gehrke, aye; Ansley, aye; L. Taylor, aye; G. Taylor, aye; Selfridge, pass. Motian carried. A request was read from George Wicks, 2316 Marybrook Drive, for a street light at the corner of Marybrook Drive and Joseph Street. W. Rahn made a motion to contact Commonwealth Edison and request the street light. Seconded by L. Taylor. All ayes, no nays. Motion caxried. Permission was granted the Plainfield Women's Civic Organization to place a banner across Illinois Street in front of the. Methodist Church to announce the "Arrival of Santa". • _- VILLAGE BOARD OI' TRUSTEES MEETING November 4, 194 A petition was presented to the Board from residents of James Street complaining of the dust resulting from resurfacing of the street. Considerable discussion followed. Traffic speed is to be curtailed in that area to aleviate the situation. Meeting adjourned to an Executive Session. Meeting reconvened on motion by R. Selfridge, seconded by W. Rahn. Motion carried. On motion by 'R. Selfridge, a letter is to be sent to Thomas Mefferd informing him that his position as Civil Defense Director has been terminated due to improper use of equipment. Seconded by H. Gehrke.
